Community Organizers needed for Michigan and Pennsylvania

Supermajority Education Fund is building women’s power across the country by training and mobilizing a multiracial, intergenerational community who will lead the fight for gender equity.  We are looking for folks with a love for community organizing, for working with volunteers and voter contact tools, and a sense of joy with how you approach your work to join our Mobilization and Engagement team in our priority states of Pennsylvania and Michigan. 

Community Organizers will:

  • Build and manage grassroots volunteer teams, and provide personalized training and mentorship to SMEF volunteers.
  • Facilitate and support voter contact programming: weekly events (online and in-person), deep canvassing, values-based mobilization, volunteer recruitment and training. 
  • Be a local ambassador of Supermajority Education Fund and our sister organization.
  • Build relationships with grass-roots leaders, local influencers, and allied organizations.
  • Be responsible for meeting programmatic goals with quality and authenticity.

Ramp programming for a successful Get Out The Vote campaign for the 2022 midterm elections. The programs led by our Community Organizers will focus on values-based, issue advocacy outreach to underrepresented communities in Pennsylvania and Michigan. 

What you’ll bring:

    • A love for community organizing and for working with volunteers.
    • You are a “people person” who can develop relationships and collaborate effectively with people across identity, age and ideology; you have a track record of working well with young and/or historically marginalized communities.
    • Excellent organization skills with an ability to meet deadlines and multitask.
    • Proficiency in administering VAN and proficiency in managing campaign data using programs for data tabulation and presentation (Excel and Google Docs).

The details:

  • The pay is $25 an hour
  • Reporting to State Organizing Program Manager 
  • Overtime status: non-exempt
  • You will work between 10 and 19 hours a week. We anticipate you working closer to 19 hours a week as we get to the election in November. This is a temporary role through November 30, 2022.
    • 70% of this work can happen at home or virtually for you, from your phone and computer (keep them charged).
    • 30% of this work may happen in-person if safe to do so as we monitor the spread of COVID-19.
    • Flexible hours that can remain fixed or change weekly to work the best for you.
    • You may do this job in addition to another full-time role. 
  • We are either looking for Community Organizers who are based in PA and MI or have strong roots in the states and can travel back for key events. 
  • All levels of field organizing experience as (volunteer or staff) welcome to apply.
