Opportunity

This position is responsible for ensuring that Sun-Times is in position to capitalize on home delivery and single copy sales through solid data analysis, customer problem solutions, and
reporting.

  • Analyze complex business problems using data from multiple internal systems and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers, while maintaining data integrity.
  • Use intuition and experience to resolve operational issues on the fly
  • Further creation/development of routine and ad hoc reports
  • Manage initiatives that focus on driving new projects, process improvements, and reporting enhancements for operations leaders
  • Proficiency in all Circulation systems
  • Understand consumer trends and make recommendations on promotions based on that understanding

Qualifications

  • 4 years of college or 1-3 years related experiences or equivalent combination of
    experience and education
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to participate in a collaborative team
    environment
  • Be proficient or have a strong working knowledge of Python, SQL, Javascript or Scala
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Basic understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirement

Nice to Have

  • Domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: Python, SQL, Javascript or Scala
  • Previous experience in news media organizations
  • Understanding of web technologies including HTML and CSS
