As the owner of our data pillar, you are inspiring your team while efficiently making use of our data to provide value to our customers, end-users, and employees. This position will report to the Head of Product. 

What you’ll do

  • Define and execute the vision for data at sunday
    • Define the vision of how data will transform sunday as a company
    • Ensure all orgs (Product, but also Tech, Ops, etc..) are set up to deliver that vision
    • Execute on it
  • Lead and build the Data product team
    • Hire PMs to ensure product stays ahead of the game in payments and covers all the ground
    • Trains and mentor these PMs to grow
    • Structure the team to ensure independence and efficiency of each product team
  • Build the strategy as to which data we collect and store, why, and how to communicate it to our customers and users
  • Collaborate with business and tech owners to develop a roadmap and backlog that meets objectives and drives key results for growing the business, and manage trade offs that are both technical and non-technical in nature
  • Foster an environment that enables the Data Engineering team to build an infrastructure allowing data to flow into all of our processes and products
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the agile execution process from conception, requirements gathering, UX design, development, and testing through to launch

Who you are

  • A data-lover, striving everyday to build simple insights from very complex databases
  • 5+ years of product management experience building and overseeing data products, preferably in hospitality and/or retail industries
  • 2+ year management experience
  • Successful track record of partnering with engineering teams to build data products, with a deep understanding of data technologies (SQL, R, Python, Panda, machine learning, Data Studio, Tableau,  etc)
  • Deep understanding of the needs of our merchants, their customers/employees, and sunday employees, to spot common trends and needs
  • Confident in very technical conversations, able to push back on engineering and analyst peers when appropriate; the ability to drive consensus and commit, even with all parties don’t agree
  • Genuinely interested in technology and new industry trends
  • Comfortable and confident presenting to all levels within sunday and work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units including at the executive level
  • Experienced and comfortable working with remote international teams
  • Passionate about sunday’s mission
  • An outcome focused leader with a track record of taking products from ideation through hyper-growth
