Submittable is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our dynamic, growth-driven team in Missoula, Montana or Seattle, Washington.
You’ll manage and mentor a team of engineers working on our accounts domain, which owns identities, permissions and communication services for Submittable’s products. You’ll lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically by diving deeply into business and technical domains, working closely with internal stakeholders. You’ll work with other engineering teams to support their existing accounts workloads on your greenfield services that run on Kubernetes.
This position is full-time and reports to a Director of Engineering.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Jump into our software and infrastructure, quickly coming up to speed and recommending improvements
- Lead a team of engineers to deliver predictable engineering results
- Develop your team members, grow the overall performance of your team, and contribute to the performance of your peers’ teams, department, and Submittable as a whole
- Break down a large/complex problem, quickly derive an efficient design, document and implement the core framework, and hand off the simple components to staff
- Drive the technical and organizational roadmap for the team
- Work with a cross-functional teams including product and other internal stakeholders in all phases of product development
You’ll Be Successful With:
- 4+ years of experience managing technical staff
- Proven track record in building high-performing teams; experience hiring and retaining software engineers
- Deep understanding of Agile software development, including scrum
- Modern web application design paradigms
- Modern cloud native infrastructure and design principles
- How to write well, and a bias to write things down
- Mentoring a strong engineering team with a track record of consistently delivering
- Tangible and measurable near term improvements to our software and infrastructure
- Delivering regular feedback to platform engineering teams to help reduce cognitive load to engineering teams
The salary range for this position is $160,000-$225,000 annually; base pay offered may vary depending on location, experience, skills, relevant education, and training.
Position Location: This role will be located in Bellevue, WA or Missoula, MT following a hybrid work model.
