About the role

As the head of our Product & Privacy counsel team, your role will be charged with leading all aspects of related matters, including product planning and implementation process, consumer protection, and privacy. You will serve as a strategic partner as well as a key member of the Legal team. This is a great fit for an experienced lawyer with tremendous capability, intelligence and integrity, who is highly motivated to drive impact. We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative cross-functional environment and who wants to be at the forefront of continuing to develop the trust relationship we have with our athletes. This person will report directly to the General Counsel and will work with all members of our small team which is passionate about problem-solving, expanding our knowledge, helping Strava grow, and having fun while we’re at it.

  • Advance the Legal team vision of fostering business growth and experimentation through strategic and collaborative partnership.

  • Lead a team of product & privacy counsel to enable business objectives, ensuring consistent risk tolerance, smooth coordination with cross-functional partners, and a supportive experience for our product teams in support of our business goals.

  • Build positive and influential relationships company-wide.

  • Establish consistent and scalable processes, escalation norms, communication expectations, and learning & development plans for the team.

  • Provide pragmatic advice to product teams on a range of legal issues, including privacy, consumer protection, and regulatory matters to minimize legal risk while advancing our obsession with our athletes.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to product team leadership through the product development lifecycle.

  • You are an expert in product & privacy counseling related to consumer technology.

  • J.D. and admission to relevant bar or the ability to practice in-house in California or Colorado.

  • 10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years of exclusive focus on product and privacy counseling.

  • In-house experience at a multinational, consumer-facing technology company.
