About This Role

Strava is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Technical Product Manager to support the Foundation Team, the team that builds and maintains the platform upon which the Strava backend runs. The Technical Product Manager’s primary responsibility is to build products and solutions for the entire ecosystem i.e. platform, API and Cloud Infrastructure. In this role, you will work closely with product managers, engineering, architects, design and other cross-functional partners to develop requirements that enable high quality platform products.

As a Technical Product Manager you will be responsible for creating the vision for significant parts of Strava’s platform, with the goals of enabling high developer productivity among the rapidly growing engineering teams that rely on these products and solutions to build and scale their applications. Strava’s platform is used by all engineers at Strava for developing user features. You will have the opportunity to help Strava’s platform and infrastructure teams build a robust and cohesive platform.

  • Build relationships across Strava engineering teams to understand gaps with existing products and services.

  • Own and create comprehensive product specifications.

  • Lead and collaborate on all business readiness activities including product testing, rollout, iteration and support.

  • Develop platform metrics to foster a culture of data driven decision making.

 

You will be successful here by:

  • Defining technical product requirements which involves writing of very clear, thorough and detailed requirements for complex features.

  • Influencing and collaborating with cross functional partners to advance API Design, Design Systems and Data Systems.

 

Some of our Technical Expectations

Finding one person with all of the following is almost impossible, so we’re not looking for 100% coverage. If you have experience with at least a couple of these, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Experience with AWS or another cloud provider such as Azure or GCP

  • Experience with a programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Java, or Python

  • Experience with GraphQL

  • Experience with relational data stores such as MySQL

 

We’re excited about you because you have:

  • 3+ years of Technical Product Experience.

  • 3+ years of building, delivering, and supporting platform services or tools.

  • Technical experience with API design & development and cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience in platform infrastructure, storage and networking.

  • Experience working with engineers to drive technical business decisions.

  • Strong product management skills and demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple parties to deliver a product.

  • A creative spark – in product innovation, product management, and finding ways to get things done.
