At Stratolaunch, we count on our Executive Team to solve complex business problems with creativity and passion while always collaborating with the rest of the team. We are seeking an experienced Executive Vice President, Business Development to join us in this mission, with a focus on near and long-term business strategy, updating and implementing our near-term pursuits, working with our technical team to develop new program lines of business, and taking responsibility for achieving our yearly booking targets.

 

You will be responsible for our overarching business development strategy which includes the marketing, branding, and partnerships areas. Together with other members of the Executive Team, you will build upon the current strategic plan, focusing on capturing near-term business awards, developing new customer programs, expanding to new partnerships, and ensuring Stratolaunch becomes a national test asset for use by the Department of Defense, its test ranges, and commercial customers. You will also be instrumental in evolving our long-term strategic plans with the goal of growing multiple revenue streams.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead the update of our business strategy with deep understanding of the addressable market, addressing both the direct customer capture and the building of the sales campaign that may include interactions and contributions from Congressional, Executive, and external advisors (lobbyists, think tanks, consulting groups, other).

· Responsible for near-term business development strategy

· Responsible for award capture, including developing and implementing the strategy around obtaining business awards

· Responsible for achieving annual bookings targets

· Evaluate and update the value proposition for commercial customers while understanding their operating and decision-making structure

· Update the business development plan to include the capture plans for customers in the next eighteen months

· Responsible for developing the long-term business strategy that enables the company to maintain and improve its competitive position

· Update the business development pipeline with the latest customer targets and new leads, adjusting as necessary to create sustainable growth

· Lead proposal development efforts, including developing the vision for a winning proposal and managing the team to create a high-quality proposal

· Partner with other members of the executive team to execute the current corporate strategic plan and develop future plans

· Contribute to aligning our technical offering with customer requirements; translate customer desires into capabilities/requirements for the Stratolaunch offering

· Monitor the marketplace and analyze competitors, including their strategies and value proposition

· Stay well-connected with customers to ensure broad market needs are being incorporated into the product development and enhancement cycle

· Manage the Government Relations team while empowering them to implement our Government strategy

· Share accountability with the execution team for improving the individual customer experience

· Help maximize reach and efficiency by adding new, scalable partners in a strategic way

· Build and foster creative teams committed to continuing our culture of innovation

· Collaborate with finance, product management, and marketing on messaging, pricing strategies, and business models

· Identify and resolve issues across the marketing/sales and account management functions

· Participate in contract negotiations

 

QUALIFICATIONS

· 20+ years in leadership roles, driving and implementing business capture and revenue growth

· Proven track record of success working with the test ranges of the Department of Defense and international allies

· Proven track record of capturing and growing revenue through new product development, marketing, branding, and partnerships

· Understanding of the US hypersonics history, current efforts, motivation, and potential customers

· Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with employees, fellow C-suite members, Board members, and customers

· Proven experience developing and executing business strategy

· Demonstrated understanding of the government acquisition process, including non-traditional acquisition practices

· Self-motivated with a strong track record of forecasting potential challenge areas and taking initiative to address those areas before they become a company concern

· Significant general management and P&L experience

· History of decision-making based on business metrics

· Inspirational leadership style with an ability to empower their team

· Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (and potential for Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmentalized Information clearance)

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

· MBA, BS, MS, Ph-D Engineering Degree —or equivalent advanced degree

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles. To outsiders it may seem like it is the middle-of-nowhere, but it offers both affordability and central access to a variety of California’s best attractions and landmarks. Hikers will find themselves within a 2-3 hours distance of some of the best state and national parks, including Yosemite and Sequoia in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Skiers will delight in being closely distanced to world-class resorts at Mammoth Mountain, Mountain High, and Big Bear. Beachgoers can find plenty of sand, sun, and sunsets at both Southern and Central California beaches like Ventura, Huntington, Santa Monica, and Pismo. You’re within a half day’s drive or less of Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and San Francisco where you can find a variety of live entertainment, museums, tours, and historical sight-seeing. Theme parks are in abundance, with Six Flags Magic Mountain, Disneyland, and Knotts Berry Farm ready to meet the needs of rollercoaster thrill seekers. 

Food and drink fanatics are in a haven of delectable choices. Wine aficionados will also find easy access to some of the state’s best vino in Paso Robles, Santa Ynez, and even more locally in Tehachapi and Agua Dulce. Beer fanatics will find some of the best West Coast IPAs at Bravery and Lucky Luke’s in Lancaster. Any food option you crave is covered, and we always recommend the authentic and fresh Mexican food that you won’t find anywhere else in the United States.
