In a credit analytics and risk role at PEAK6 Investments, you will have a big impact on the firm by working with the portfolio manager to construct and manage investment portfolios in corporate credit and structured equity products. This individual will provide insight on models, systems, and risk measures that are most relevant to our underlying strategies and investments. The ideal candidate will introduce and develop process improvements and pursue innovative opportunities to generate incremental yield. This role is based out of Chicago.

You will be responsible for:

  • Develop timely insight into current credit capital markets, including what forces are driving markets, types of investors, fixed income instruments available, etc.
  • Contribute to the development of the overall risk framework, unifying the approach to risk management across strategies
  • Reviewing portfolio statistics and risk on an ongoing basis with the portfolio manager to ensure that the portfolio positioning reflects current market views
  • Working with our technology team for tool building
  • Assist in the day to day management of multi-strategy portfolios, coordinating due diligence activities
  • Reviewing portfolio statistics and risk on an ongoing basis with the portfolio manager to ensure that the portfolio positioning reflects current market views
  • Working with the portfolio manager on strategy initiatives and marketing materials
  • Communicating with PEAK6 executives across business units when needed on current market trends and technicals
  • Mentoring junior traders on risk principles related to the strategy

 
We would like to see experience in these strategies and products:

  • Advanced proficiency in corporate credit and structured equity products and investment strategies, including investment grade, high yield bonds, leveraged loans, convertible bonds, and preferred stock
  • Proficient in basic options and derivatives products across asset classes

 
 You will gain loads of experience in this role, but before you do, you should have:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience at a Hedge Fund, Asset Manager, Investment Bank or other related financial services company
  • An entrepreneurial, business building mindset with strong relationship building mentality.
  • Product and modeling knowledge in equity, fixed income, and interest rate derivatives.
  • Expertise in investment platforms, systems, operations, data flows, accounting and processes, as it relates to alternative asset management and the investment lifecycle in general
  • Ability to work closely with portfolio managers, understanding their strategy, offering insight related to risk management, and improving workflows and processes
  • Trading or portfolio management experience a plus
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in making decisions
  • Aptitude and preference for working a highly collaborative environment
  • Strong communication ability on a small team
  • Strong mentorship abilities to help guide and coach junior traders
  • The ability to be flexible and learn
  • Exposure to python (desired but not required) or the ability to direct python users.
