The Role

The Principal Accountant will play a pivotal role in issuing and integrating reports for internal and external users, including Financial Statements to auditors. Also, will play a key role in the processes and technology improvements for the accounting team and leading strategic projects that would be able to automate several operations. Beside that work this person will provide support to the regulatory team for the accounting requests of CNBV and the Federation. This position reports directly to the Sr Accounting Manager.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Preparation of reports for internal and external users.
  • Prepare Financial Statements for companies of the group.
  • Reconcile Ledger accounts.
  • Support for regulatory, internal and external audit processes.
  • Process improvement activities. 
  • Financial system automation. 
  • Perform assigned internal controls and financial procedures across all offices.
  • To lead different initiatives inside the Accounting team that will have an impact on the daily operations. 
  • Help implement financial and accounting processes, tools and controls under the direction of the Sr Accounting Manager.
  • Help with the maintenance and upgrades to the ERP.

 

What we are looking for

Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or MBA is a plus. 
    • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in accounting and regulatory matters. Could be Big4 (with solid background in Financial Industry), Banks, SOFIPO, SOFOM. This is a must to have requirement.
    • Strong understanding of Mexican accounting and regulatory environment.
    • Experience in managing projects within the international scope. 
    • At least 5 years of experience working with any of the following: general ledger, reconciliation, month-end closing, preparing financial statements, regulated environment.
    • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
    • Preferred if have knowledge of setup in ERP systems (NetSuite is a plus). 
    • Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments and can easily adapt to change and re-prioritize.
