QA Manager, Spatialand  

“VR” is an industry buzzword right now. And the majority of the technology that has been created in this space has been focused on the development of hardware and content for spaces such as gaming and entertainment, ignoring the range of possibilities available in retail. At our core, we are merchandisers and storytellers which drives us to believe that virtual reality has the potential to reinvent the consumer experience—with an experience we call contextual commerce.

We are looking for a strong Quality Assurance manager who can join our team and help perfect and deliver amazing technologies and experiences in the emerging world of Virtual Reality.

This is the opportunity to get in from the first day at a stealth company currently being incubated in Los Angeles by Walmart's tech incubator, Store No 8.  Spatialand was acquired by Store N° 8, Walmart’s incubation arm for developing capabilities that will transform the future of commerce. At Store N° 8, the Spatialand team will develop and explore new products and uses of VR through immersive retail environments that can be incorporated by all facets of Walmart, online and offline. Our new venture is currently operating in stealth mode as we work out of our beautiful Venice, CA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead QA process for development of custom room scale Virtual Reality applications
  • Plan, develop and execute test plans for multiple software and hardware platforms
  • Lead external focus groups and perform user testing from scripted test cases
  • Evaluate consumer user flow and UI/UX
  • Implement and integrate external testing frameworks, tools and vendors
  • Work with internal systems to document, identify and prioritize bugs with development and executive teams
  • Collaborate with developers to define best practices and implement scalable processes
  • Drive forward the constant improvement of product quality throughout development process
  • Focus on specific user challenges related to Virtual Reality
  • Install, setup and maintain hardware and equipment for testing Virtual Reality experiences

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of QA and user testing experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality assurance processes
  • Experience with project management software (ex. Jira, Hansoft or MS Project)
  • Thorough understanding of CG, real-time engines and immersive media development workflow
  • Experience working with Virtual reality and 3D game engines
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices 
  • Excellent attention to detail, with an ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Passionate about QA and working with end users in a new medium
  • Strong desire for establishing and improving product quality 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
