What you’ll do:

  • Drive the merchandise strategy of the Beauty category and curate a catalog that sets us apart from all competition
  • Oversee detailed product type research that will drive Code Eight product recommendation
  • Train ‘Researchers’ on product research and process for identifying and defining product attributes
  • Manage and review product type research matrices; finalize logic rules for subjective attributes
  • Oversee accuracy of the Master Catalog including changes to category assortments, product names, costs, prices, and lifecycle status
  • Analyze weekly and monthly sales performance reporting as well as ad hoc reports including monthly best seller reviews and other style reviews
  • Analyze product assortments such as collection, classification, price point and sales trends and make proposals for new merchandise based on findings
  • Develop seasonal business recaps with direction from the Merchant/Buyer
  • Recognize opportunities within the business and develop initial recommendations for either immediate or long-term gains
  • Shop competition on a monthly basis for current category trends, price points, and promotional activity; Maintain an awareness of product line themes and competitive landscape
  • Overtime, build and foster relationships with vendors, stores and internal partners to ensure successful, product launches and a well-rounded category shopping experience
  • When applicable, assist in negotiating buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, delivery/ payment terms)
  • Source new products across existing and new vendors/stores, share selections with broader team and leadership and oversee proper tagging into the Catalog

You should have:

  • Undergraduate College degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years prior Merchandising or Retail experience, preferably in Beauty
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis
  • Possess a clear understanding of retail measurements; sales, margin, conversion, weeks of supply, inventory turn, sell through, etc. and how to impact them
  • Demonstrates initiative; anticipates needs of business and responds accordingly
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external sources; responsive to customer issues and requests
  • Possesses overall aesthetic sensibility
  • Strong organizational skills and project management skills; able prioritize and handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
