Head of Business Operations and Strategy, Spatialand

“VR” is an industry buzzword right now. And the majority of the technology that has been created in this space has been focused on the development of hardware and content for spaces such as gaming and entertainment, ignoring the range of possibilities available in retail. At our core, we are merchandisers and storytellers which drives us to believe that virtual reality has the potential to reinvent the consumer experience—with an experience we call contextual commerce.

We are looking for a strong operator and strategic thinker who can partner with the CEO of the Stealth Co. to deliver amazing technologies and experiences that will change retail as we know it. 

This is the opportunity to get in from the first day at a stealth company currently being incubated in Los Angeles by Walmart’s tech incubator, Store No 8.  Spatialand was acquired by Store N° 8, Walmart’s incubation arm for developing capabilities that will transform the future of commerce. At Store N° 8, the Spatialand team will develop and explore new products and uses of VR through immersive retail environments that can be incorporated by all facets of Walmart, online and offline. Our new venture is currently operating in stealth mode as we work out of our beautiful Venice, CA office.


  • Operations management – Manage day-to-day operations of the business including:
    • co-ownership with CEO of company goals,
    • building tactical business plan to achieve goals,
    • program and project management of specific initiatives,
    • development and oversight of finances and P+L,
    • preparation of all management materials and presentations,
    • developing and managing system to hire, onboard and continually develop team
    • serve as the liaison between Stealth. Co and Store No 8 and broader Walmart to achieve broader objectives and maintain connection with the larger organization 
  • Strategy setting and projects – Help define overall company strategy including working cross-functionally on high priority strategic projects alongside relevant business areas 
  • Jack of all trades – Be able to jump in where needed and as necessary to help drive the business forward

  • MBA preferred or equivalent management training program
  • 5-6 years’ experience total with 2-4 years of investment banking, consulting, corporate strategy or operations at an early stage start-up
  • Experience creating structure in a very high growth, ambiguous environment
  • Experience directly managing a team
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results (i.e. you’ve managed high profile projects to completion and can provide examples)
  • Operations and finance oriented with strong analytical skills, including ability to both do and direct analytical work (i.e. you need to be able to create and manage a P+L)
  • Superb communication and relationship skills, including the ability to present to C-level executives
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint abilities
