“VR” is an industry buzzword right now. And the majority of the technology that has been created in this space has been focused on the development of hardware and content for spaces such as gaming and entertainment, ignoring the range of possibilities available in retail. At our core, we are merchandisers and storytellers which drives us to believe that virtual reality has the potential to reinvent the consumer experience—with an experience we call contextual commerce.

We are looking for a strong Manager of Partnerships & Talent Experience who can join our team and deliver amazing, memorable, experiences for both team and brand partners.

This is the opportunity to get in from the very beginning at a stealth company currently being incubated in Los Angeles by Walmart's tech incubator, Store No 8.  Spatialand was acquired by Store N° 8, Walmart’s incubation arm for developing capabilities that will transform the future of commerce. At Store N° 8, the Spatialand team will develop and explore new products and uses of VR through immersive retail environments that can be incorporated by all facets of Walmart, online and offline. Our new venture is currently operating in stealth mode as we work out of our beautiful Venice, CA office. 

What you’ll do:

Talent Experience:

  • Culture / Talent Experience Strategy & Execution—e.g. Culture committee, Office events, Quarterly fun days, Retail immersion/VR immersion field trips, Happy Hours, whatever else you think of!  We want lots of creativity here
  • Recruiting—Build job descriptions, Coordinate with HRBPs to set level and comp, Build interview plan, manage greenhouse set up for all recruiting feedback
  • Internal Communications Strategy & Execution—All hands meetings, all other team communication
  • Onboarding Strategy & Execution—Set up (unique, memorable) employee onboarding program
  • Employee Lifecycle Management – ensure that we facilitate an environment where employees are continually improving by helping to develop and articulate goals & objectives
  • HR—Workday, Benefits, I9, Annual reviews, Incentives, Perks
  • Walmart Liaison—Coordinate with Walmart HR team on all aspects of HR 

Partner Management & BD:

  • Account Targeting –identify & strategize outreach tactics for potential brand/retail partners
  • Account Management—Manage all communications with brand partners.  Act as the central point of contact for brand partners and liaise between the product / tech teams, business team, and external brand partner(s)
  • Strategy— Develop magical pitch and marketing materials—we are selling an emotional connection with the customer
  • Communications— Work directly with the Head of Strategy, BD, & Biz Ops to prioritize and coordinate outreach

  • BS/BA degree
  • 5+ year’s of experience with a combination of Talent Experience, HRBP, and/or marketing/business development and partnerships
