Opportunity: Senior Information Technology (IT) Manager

Location: Stone Barns Center (SBC) in Pocantico Hills, New York

Supervisor: Director of Finance

Employment Classification: Full-Time/Salaried, Exempt

Frequency of Pay: Bi-weekly

Salary: From $85,000 - $95,000 per year

Schedule: 5 days a week (e.g. Monday-Friday); will include some weekends and evenings 

 

With technology playing an increasingly important role in the development and success of the organization, it is critical the Senior IT Manager be highly skilled and capable. Qualities such as accountability, crisis management, and the ability to effectively set priorities are essential. The role of the Senior IT Manager within the organization is to ultimately identify and bring forth technology infrastructure and solutions to propel SBC forward. This role will serve as the liaison between the operational side of the organization and the technical side; as such, the Senior IT Manager identifies needs, communicates findings, and makes recommendations. The Senior IT Manager is expected to advise the organization on technology and how it enables improved team performance.  In addition, the Senior IT Manager oversees new systems design, development, and implementation. This is a hands-on role and will require that the Senior IT Manager supervise and respond to user IT support desk requests. 

As a leader in the IT department, and the employee responsible for organization-wide systems, information, and resources, the ideal candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Evaluate all current IT systems; plan/devise a program to bring all IT in-house
  • Establish IT policies regarding operational procedures and ensure compliance as it pertains to operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software and hardware
  • Work with outside vendors, upper management, and leadership of other departments to ensure smooth processes
  • Establish strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Plan and schedule project guidelines and goals while ensuring timelines are met    
  • Supervise, coach, and delegate appropriate responsibilities to the IT Manager    
  • Provide operational support, troubleshooting and maintenance of major security related processes, controls or products. Analyze, configure, test, and document remediations to security processes, controls or products. Recommends new Cybersecurity processes.
  • Audiovisual project management duties include coordinating hybrid video conferencing installation, programming, equipment, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure a perfect execution
  • Ensure network components meet SBC’s needs and work together seamlessly using the full range of capabilities; stay informed about new features and competitive solutions
  • Prepare cost/benefit analysis reports when upgrades are necessary; continuously analyze vendors to ensure they offer the best possible service and value for SBC needs
  • Train employees on both software and hardware, troubleshoot, and provide technical support when needed                        

 

Preferred Skills/Knowledge

  • Interest in the Stone Barns Center’s mission; experience at an environmentally responsible, agriculturally-oriented organization is a plus
  • Ten years of prior IT management experience and/or a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management
  • At least, five years of supervisory experience
  • Deep familiarity with Mac OS and iOS is required
  • Experience with programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring
  • Expertise in implementing, configuring, and testing technological solutions
  • Well-organized; able to prioritize a full and diverse workload, take initiative and be proactive
  • Must be a good problem solver
  • Strong interpersonal skills and committed to exemplary customer service
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing 

 

Physical Requirements

This position requires extended periods of time at a desk on a computer and requires being able to lift 15 pounds at a time. In addition, this person must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
