We’re looking for a Manager, Sales/Use Tax to oversee all aspects of StockX’s Sales and Use Tax matters spanning compliance, audit and direct business advisory. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual U.S. state sales and use tax returns.
What you’ll do
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual U.S. state sales and use tax returns
- Monitoring state and local tax legislation for changes relevant to StockX, researching and driving implementation of any relevant changes
- Support quarterly and annual financial statement processes including account reconciliations
- Preparing for and leading state and local sales and use tax audits
- Interact directly with internal business units to advise on the state and local tax implications of new business initiatives
About you
- 5+ years of experience in U.S. sales and use tax, previous public accounting experience a plus
- Avalara experience required, ideally with both the engine functionality and tax reporting module; Vertex (or other tax engine software) experience is a plus
- Practical experience working with a tax engine (e.g. researching and picking product tax codes)
- Experience working with the tax accounting aspects of sales tax (e.g. account reconciliations and documenting uncertain tax positions)
- A degree in accounting or finance; CPA or equivalent license preferred
- A deep understanding of multi-state sales and use tax regulations
- Solid reasoning and judgment skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong capabilities in VLookups and pivot tables
- Demonstrated experience with Avalara and a thorough understanding of sales tax nexus concepts; familiarity with other tax software is a plus
- Energetic and organized team player that excels in a fast-moving, hyper-growth setting
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex tax concepts to team members and other groups internally
- Project management experience

- Compliance-focused experience, ideally experience with business advisory/planning
- Experience working directly with engineering teams
- Audit support experience

Pursuant to the various pay transparency laws/acts, the base salary range is $120,000 to $170,000 plus opportunities for benefits (e.g., medical, dental), equity and discretionary bonuses. Compensation is dependent on geography and may vary.
