WHAT YOU’LL DO
We’re looking for a strategic, experienced and innovative leader to join as Director of People and play a key role as a member of the NYC leadership team. You’ll work with managers and employees to solve complex organizational challenges with people-related solutions that enable the company to thrive and employees to experience stensul as the best place for them to grow themselves and their careers. This includes contributing to the development and managing the execution of people programs such as talent planning, organizational design, new manager enablement, employee relations, coaching, employee engagement, change management, and diversity & inclusion. Your work will contribute to making stensul a compliant, engaging, and thriving place to work in an innovative people-driven way. 
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with the leadership team and employees to create and maintain a positive and engaging work environment that encourages the full use of the team’s diverse talents and abilities 
  • Execute people strategies that foster growth and innovation while scaling and strengthening our culture 
  • Monitor the overall pulse of the organization
  • Help resolve complex and unique employment-related issues and address and manage employee relations issues fairly, thoroughly, and proactively
  • Partner with managers on complex performance matters and monitor progress by coaching managers and employees 
  • Create and implement the company’s employee training and development programs including management training 
  • Craft employee recruiting and retention initiatives
  • Make an impact with metrics, data analysis, and continuous improvement using the most innovative processes and HR systems
  • Oversee and refresh the organization’s HR policies and procedures and make sure the company is compliant
 
ABOUT YOU
  • 5+ years of HR experience including 1+ years of management experience, in a start-up environment
  • The ability to communicate effectively to all stakeholders and to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Strong HR foundation in compensation and employment law practices
  • A proactive, roll-up-your sleeves approach to accomplishing tasks
  • Sound judgement supported by strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective management of your direct reports and strong mentorship to others in the organization
  • Honesty/integrity
  • Resourcefulness openness to use methods and channels in unconventional or crafty ways
  • Ability to thrive in ‘startup’ environment
