JOB SUMMARY:


Working under the supervision of the Controller, this position coordinates the day-to-day accounting and transaction processing within the Accounting department.  Accuracy and the ability to meet reporting and sales tax deadlines are essential to assist management with financial reporting and analysis.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Prepare and complete monthly journal entries and related monthly account reconciliations on key account areas as follows:

  • Fixed assets / intangibles
  • Prepaid assets including insurance / royalties
  • P&L reclass entries related to exchanges, restocks and inbound allocation
  • Report on key financial statistics on a weekly basis

Register, prepare and file sales and use taxes for all applicable states

  • Prepare and file sales taxes in MN and VA on a monthly basis
  • Review additional states with management and proceed to register / file in all states
  • Maintain all electronic and paper files for all sales and use tax returns / information

Process and maintain customer credit and collection process

  • Process weekly OB and CS aging and send collection letters
  • Process and send accounts past 90 days to 3rd party collector
  • Review and approve credit bucket and split pays
  • Resolve credit card decline issues on shipped orders

Process chargebacks and other misc., tasks

  • Review and resolve all Y&J chargebacks < $100
  • Complete the unpaid property and underpaid report
  • Assist customer service and sales on customer account status inquiries
  • Train on back-up responsibilities including credit card jobs
  • Prepare support to bank and external auditors
  • Special projects as needed

 CORE COMPETENCIES:


  • 4 year degree in Accounting or related field
  • Attention to detail and ability to take ownership for areas of responsibility
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively – oral and written
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
  • Analytical skills, self-initiative and creativity especially in customer return evaluation
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and ERP systems (Hyperion and Ecometry a plus)
  • Detail oriented, focus on accuracy, completeness and organization
