About the Role
Doma is now seeking a Senior Tax Accountant. The Senior Tax Accountant will report to the Sr. Director, Tax and will be an integral part of all aspects of the Tax Department including the various tax provisions, compliance functions and research.
Assisting in the preparation of quarterly/ annual GAAP and statutory income tax provisions and all information supporting the financial close, including tax footnotes and disclosures
Teaming and working with various departments including accounting and operations; ensuring the tax implications are considered for current and future business decisions
Assisting in the preparation and review of all tax compliance, including the federal, state income/franchise tax returns, and premium/municipal tax returns.
Assisting in the development of controls and overall risk assessments required under Sarbanes-Oxley and Model Audit Rules, as applicable to the tax department processes
Monitoring changes in tax law and researching/concluding on significant tax compliance and tax accounting matters
Administrative duties; including tax correspondence preparation, file organization, and department mail.
Required Skills & Experience
Significant experience (4 to 7 years) in corporate and insurance tax compliance
Accounting degree required; advanced tax degree and CPA preferred
Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws, regulations, etc.
Strong understanding of GAAP and statutory accounting guidance and practical application thereof
Familiarity with control design and testing
Advanced computer skills, especially familiarity with Excel, Word, tax compliance software and research databases, with the ability and desire to look at innovative options in technology.
Demonstrated ability to deliver timely results and attentive to deadlines.
