CaptainU is looking for a Manager, Data and Personalization to join our team and contribute to our explosive growth as the leader in the sports & technology market. Since 2007, CaptainU’s mission has been to bridge sports and technology by connecting millions of athletes with college coaches, teams, and events. We’ve fundamentally changed the recruiting process for both high school Athletes and College Coaches around the country.

As the Manager, Data and Personalization for our team, you’ll own the day to day operations of our personalization tools like, Responsys and help us to deploy messaging to communicate directly with athletes and their parents. In your role you will bridge the gap between operations and marketing execution. Partnering closely with our marketing teams to build powerful personalized campaigns to educate athletes and parents about the recruiting journey. We are looking for someone who lives for a great campaign that really converts and understands that data is what drives a business forward. The CaptainU software platform is used by hundreds of thousands of high school athletes and their families as well as thousands of college sports programs across 20 sports around the country and growing at a rapid pace.

  • Own Data and Personalization Operations: 
    • Manage all aspects of Oracle Responsys
    • Execute email / push / sms / in-product messaging for recurring, triggered and dynamic content-driven campaigns:
    • Map dynamic fields in emails
    • Test, schedule, deploy campaigns
    • Build insights into our membership that help us better understand our athletes
    • Suggest new and creative ways to personalize our marketing campaigns
  • Coordinate with leadership, the creative team, marketing stakeholders, operational builders, data science, and product to develop B2C & B2B programs 
  • Review A/B tests, supervise and analyze ongoing email performance, and make recommendations to optimize our email campaigns
  • Help clean our list, streamline our process, and coordinate our email service provider (Oracle Responsys)’s program and campaign repository
  • Create cohorted campaigns based on behaviors like past email engagement and website interactions (content downloads, site page visits, etc.)
  • Translate business requirements and turn them into scalable marketing programs that impact goals
  • Monitor industry trends and identify areas of opportunity
  • Process improvements: identify and implement email deployment process improvements


What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in email/digital marketing operations
  • Expertise with Oracle Responsys and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Experience withESPs (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Iterable, ExactTarget, Adobe Campaign)
  • Past experience with email marketing and web analytics.
  • Excellent communicator (in both written and verbal form).
  • Self-starter - need to see opportunities and help lead solutions day-to-day, take pride in your work
  • Attention to detail is absolutely must-have
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communications, organization, teamwork and follow-up skills
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Amplitude
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
