This is a hybrid-remote role requiring on-site work at our London office, 3 days per week. Our office is located in the WeWork at 1 Mark Square London, EC2A 4EG

Elevator Pitch

This is an exciting time to consider joining Stacklok as we embark on building our Frontend team within our secure supply chain threat platform, Trusty, with the hiring of a Staff Frontend Engineer.

As a vital member of our team, you will not only collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and end users, but you will also lead the Frontend team, guiding them through every phase of the journey, from research and design to development and analytics. Your role will be pivotal in mentoring team members, encouraging their professional growth and ensuring that they excel in their roles. Your insights, experience, and leadership will be crucial in shaping a product that not only meets user needs but consistently exceeds expectations. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact, both by leading innovative projects and by developing the next generation of engineering talent at Stacklok.

Role Success: 6-12 Month Expectations

  • Lead the development of our web platform's frontend from its current stage as an experimental service towards a General Availability (GA) product, ensuring adherence to high standards in code quality, security, performance, and scalability. You will refine and evolve our product based on continuous feedback and integrate new features seamlessly.
  • Play a key role in shaping Stacklok’s Trusty frontend technical architecture, developing robust testing strategies, enhancing our CI/CD processes, and refining deployment methodologies.
  • Collaborate extensively with both frontend and backend engineering teams to guide the platform's technical direction, streamline data interactions, and craft detailed technical specifications.
  • Work closely with product managers and UI/UX designers to convert functional specifications, wireframes, and mock-ups into fully-realized proof-of-concepts and well-engineered features
  • Stay ahead of the curve with the latest front-end technologies and industry best practices, ensuring our team remains at the forefront of technology trends.

In this Role, You will have the Opportunity to:

  • Architect and develop sophisticated web applications, plugins, and widgets using cutting-edge frontend technologies.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of frontend tools, libraries, and methodologies, setting the standard for best practices and operational excellence within the team.
  • Mentor and help foster and grow a frontend engineering culture of excellence and ownership driven outcomes.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience in managing frontend teams, with a demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, foster team growth, and lead by example.
  • Experience developing commercial user interfaces using JavaScript & TypeScript for enterprise SaaS products, especially within domains such as cybersecurity, developer tooling, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Deep Experience with contemporary Javascript frameworks and libraries such as NextJS, React, Redux, MobX, and more.
  • Experience with Unit, UI, E2E, and Contract testing techniques
  • Expertise in client-server communication, performance tuning, and optimization principles.
  • Proficient in UX patterns and user behaviors, with familiarity in leading frontend libraries such as AntDesign, MaterialUI, RadixUI, and Tailwind.
  • Understanding of technical limitations across different platforms, such as Desktop vs. Mobile, and the ability to evaluate implementation tradeoffs.
  • Experience with analytics and user behavior tools, including but not limited to FullStory, Heap, and Google Analytics.
