We're hiring an immunologist to drive Spring's efforts to battle the aging immune system, using our platform to find therapies for immunosenescence and its associated diseases.

Aging is the single greatest risk factor for the most detrimental diseases on Earth — cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, pulmonary disease, cancer, muscle wasting, and more — and drugs that slow the biological damage accumulated while aging have the potential to reduce the incidences of these diseases, possibly simultaneously. We believe that in the not-too-distant future, the discovery of therapies for aging will provide some of the most effective tools in history for reducing our burden of disease and extending our healthy lifespan.

About you
  • Demonstrated experience in the discovery and preclinical development of immune therapeutics
  • Demonstrated expertise in the field of immunology, cell biology, and/or genetics
  • Broad experience in assessing innate (myeloid) and acquired (T cell) immune cell function, differentiation, immune cell trafficking, and response to pathogens / vaccine
  • Experience designing and applying syngeneic and humanized immune response models to evaluate novel immunomodulating candidates
  • Technical expertise in flow cytometry, cell sorting, confocal microscopy, and gating immune cell populations
  • Prior experience working with or leading collaborations with external academic, biotechnology, and contract research organizations
  • Experience in mentoring and/or leading Ph.D. level and non-Ph.D. level scientists
  • Ability to organize and communicate complex data sets in a clear and concise manner to key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  • Ph.D. with 6+ years of relevant post-Ph.D. experience in Biotech/Pharma
  • Passion for using broad, high content information to measure cell function rather than traditional markers
  • You do anything necessary to solve the problem at hand
  • You love learning and teaching others in a cross-functional team (we're biologists, computational folks, and more).
  • You're most motivated when working on a problem of important consequence, no matter what's necessary to do so.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive discovery and development of new therapeutics for improving elderly vaccine response
  • Invent and evolve a whole new way to profile the immune system using high content imaging 
  • Lead and participate in collaborations with internal and external collaborators to pursue the most promising drug candidates through clinical trials

  • Write and contribute to intellectual property, study reports, regulatory filings, and scientific presentations
