VP of Software Engineering 

SpotOn is a fast-growing Point-of-Sale, marketing, loyalty, sales, and reputation tracking platform that helps customers check in to earn rewards at their favorite local businesses using our web, mobile phone, and tablet products. Business owners can use data generated by these check-ins, as well as sales data, to reach out and connect with their customers, and manage their online reputation, and experience the benefits of loyal, returning customers.

SpotOn is looking for a VP of Engineering to partner with our CTO to create the engineering vision and strategy. You will lead a team of exceptional engineers to deliver world-class software to customers in the restaurant, retail, and services industry. We are experiencing tremendous growth and looking for a leader who can retain and attract talent in a distributed working environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Create a high-performance engineering culture focused on accountability and results. 
  • Ability to craft a multi-horizon technical product vision. Drive the technical roadmap for core products and services
  • Serve as the technology thought leader within the business to maintain technical standards, security, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Determine site and hiring plan in conjunction with technical roadmap
  • Drive product and technology reviews in conjunction with the Product Leaders and senior stakeholders.
  • Clearly define scope, objectives, and approach and develop a clear detailed plan for the execution of technical projects
  • Be a key partner to the executive team by informing our strategic and product roadmaps, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing methods to streamline execution across the company. 
  • Make and own critical decisions and be proactive in foreseeing and resolving issues.
  • Ensure teams are accountable, have clear priorities and adequate resources.
  • Defines changes to system architecture to improve system performance and scale.

What you'll bring...

  • You have served as VP Engineering and/or Chief Technology Officer of a FinTech or SaaS business that experienced substantial growth, managing at least 100 engineers.
  • Strong executive presence and highly influential with stakeholders.
  • Understanding of value stream mapping activities as well as core practices like Quality, Application Security, and UI/UX 
  • You have a track record of creating a positive culture focused on execution and delivering software that exceeds customer expectations. 
  • Comfortable with product lifecycle testing embraces a build, measure, learn approach
  • Lead with a strong focus on automation and modernization with strong service-ownership mindset 
  • Experience with Python, React, and Golang
  • AWS knowledge required, GCP & Azure preferred.
