Spin operates electric scooters in cities and campuses nationwide, bringing sustainable last-mile mobility solutions to diverse communities. Recognized for its consistent cooperation and collaboration with cities, Spin partners closely with transportation planners, elected officials, community groups, and university administrators to bring stationless mobility options to streets in a responsible and carefully orchestrated manner.
 
Based in San Francisco, Spin is a diverse team of engineers, designers, urban planners, policymakers, lawyers and operators with experience from Y Combinator, Lyft, Uber, local and federal government, and the transportation advocacy world. Spin was known for launching the first stationless mobility program in Seattle, and has since expanded to become the exclusive electric scooter partner in mid-sized cities like Coral Gables, Florida and Lexington, Kentucky, and one of a few permitted scooter operators in large cities like Denver, Detroit, and Washington, D.C. The team embeds in cities and neighborhoods to understand their specific transportation needs, and hires locally from the community.
 
Spin is expanding quickly and looking for top-tier talent to help us bring affordable and accessible transportation options to cities and define what future safe streets will look like. 
 
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Finance will be responsible for leading the consolidated finance and accounting function for Spin. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a corporate finance environment within a high growth technology (ideally marketplaces or similar distributed customer model) organization with a demonstrated history of leading highly effective teams.  
We are looking for a high energy leader that can develop strategic operating plans and financial forecasts while driving systems, processes and controls to enabled broader financial discipline within the organization.  This leader must be an effective partner who understands the appropriate business drivers that enable the organization to continue their rapid pace of development and scale.
The VP Finance will have responsibility for a team of 6 spanning financial planning and analysis, accounting, and business intelligence.
 
Responsibilities will include:
 
Serving as a business partner to the Executive Team.Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies by measuring both financial and business performance risk. Design and implement controls processes, and financial infrastructure for a 300-employee company in high growth mode spanning reporting forecasting, and analysis.Development and presentation of both annual strategic operating plan and quarterly results to corporate leadership team within Spin as well as select representatives with Ford. This Vice President of Finance must serve as key member of the leadership team in developing and implementing strategic business plans, including organic growth, new markets, partnerships, capital allocation strategies, and potential M&A.  Act as a thought leader by providing analytical insight and perspective to senior management.  Proactively assess new business opportunities and their impact to the financial and business goals of the company.Provide leadership to the finance team, constantly raising the bar of expectation and developing a world class finance organization. Support inorganic business development operations as required, playing an active role in business case formulation.  Ensure smooth integration of acquired businesses as necessary. Drive organization to best practices across all finance and non-finance business processes and implementing state of the arts tools, procedures and systems to effectively support the cross-functional business and scale for future growth. Oversee the hiring and development of staff as needed.
 
The Person
 
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in financial leadership roles spanning both startups and more mature organizations through periods of material growth.  This person will be intellectually curious with high energy and have a passion to make the organization successful. He/she will have the mentality to think like the owner of the business and take a proactive yet collaborative approach to accomplishing business goals. A strong sense of collaboration is essential, as this person will work closely with other departments within Spin.
 
He/she will possess a strong combination of the following experiences and attributes:
High “EQ” and strong interpersonal skills, adept at effectively reading and managing constituents’ diverse styles. The candidate will be self-motivated and demonstrate a driving force of financial success in their current and past organizations. Strong project management skills with ability to manage short term deliverables concurrent with longer-term strategic milestones. Strong internal controls and technical accounting/finance experience.  Must have an outstanding attention to detail and strong process rigor. Critical thinking on complex business issues with an ability to articulate viewpoints throughout the Spin management team. History of setting and achieving the highest standards of performance for the team.  Recognized for attracting great talent, building a strong bench and developing a successor.  A strong commercial operations orientation and a proven ability to partner with operating teams to drive and monitor performance, while also developing strategic plans.  Courage to influence senior executives with fact-based arguments and ideas that ensure optimal performance and results. Prior experience successfully recruiting and building high performing teams.Ability to make tough decisions, to change and adapt quickly, while remaining focused on customers and executing business initiatives.
 
 
Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting.  MBA and/or CPA/CFA is strongly preferred, but not required.
