You will help change the landscape of the small-sat industry, be an integral and unique part of a close-knit team of individuals operating in a high energy environment. As an Electric Propulsion Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building an ion drive, like a Hall Effect Thruster (HET). Your work will expand upon the development of ruggedized launch vehicle and satellite hardware for SpinLaunch’s kinetic launch system. This is a full-time position located at our new Long Beach, CA facility.
Your Mission
Lead the development of high-g capable electric propulsion (e.g., a Hall Effect Thruster) from conception through requirements definition, prototyping, and validation.
Work with mechanical and systems engineers collaboratively to ensure that the hardware meets launch loading and mission performance requirements.
Design and conduct tests that characterize performance and verify functionality of satellite propulsion systems.
Document designs, analyses and test results.
You Have
More than 2 years of experience designing and buildingion thrusters
Expertise inelectromagnetic field modelling
Proficiency using SPICE or similar software for analog circuit design and simulation
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar training
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to rapidly expand application specific knowledge sets and skills where necessary
Strongly Desired
Experience developing hardware for small satellites on a tight budget for volume manufacturing
Experience developing hardware from concept to validation
Embedded systems development experience
Experience designing ruggedized electronics
MS or PhDin Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar training.
