A Day in the Life
Your Mission:
- Drive manufacturing & process engineering for composites development and fabrication Specify and source equipment necessary to fabricate large composite structures
- Develop processes, work instructions and quality standards for fabricating composite structures
- Understanding and designing for primary and secondary load paths
- Conceptual designing, structural layout, sizing, and detail designing
- Understanding of laminate analysis and sizing
- Inspect and test composite components using ultrasonic or radiography methods
- Assist hands-on in the fabrication and assembly of large composite structures
- Analyzing and planning work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
- Planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing processes on shop floor
- Designing, and generating drawings and documentation for tooling, fixtures and jigs
You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline or other in “STEM” related majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent experience
- +8 years’ experience employed as a Composites Manufacturing or Quality Engineering
- Expert understanding of composite manufacturing and assembly
- Expert understanding of the theory and practical application of composite structures and their application to aircraft
- Experience in developing and establishing critical processes
- Some hands-on experience using NDT equipment such as ultrasound or X-ray
- Familiarity with 2D and/or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (i.e. AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Comfortable operating general shop machinery (i.e. table saws, drill presses, hand tools)
- Experience developing work instructions, performing Job Hazards Analysis, and optimizing manufacturing process flows/controls
- Strong safety culture (recognizes the importance of properly handling hazardous materials, chemicals, tools, OSHA regulations, etc.)
Strongly Desirable:
- Hands-on composites fabrication and assembly experience
- Rapid prototyping experience
- Commercial composite material fabrication experience with large structures
- Solid understanding of manufacturing data collection techniques and how to improve over time
