Spektrum are supporting a tier 1 supplier of personnel and services to international Organisations, with more than 2,500 experienced professionals deployed, and active engagements in more than 28 countries spanning 5 continents.

Our support to this client ranges from headhunting, temp and temp to perm personal for both our client and their end clients needs.

Background

The role will be embedded within an International Organisations Global Service Center Base in Valencia serves as a key operational and logistical hub for international missions aimed at maintaining peace and providing humanitarian aid. Located in Spain, this center complements the efforts of its counterpart in Brindisi, working collaboratively to ensure comprehensive support for missions worldwide.

The Valencia base is particularly focused on information and communication technology services. It manages critical IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data management systems that are essential for the coordination and execution of global missions. This includes maintaining reliable and secure communication networks, developing and implementing innovative technological solutions, and providing technical support to field operations.

By handling these complex and crucial aspects of mission support, the Valencia base ensures that international operations can rely on robust and efficient technological frameworks. This enables quick and effective responses to crises, enhances coordination among various stakeholders, and supports the overall objectives of global peacekeeping and humanitarian initiatives. The center's dedication to excellence and continuous improvement makes it an integral part of international efforts to address global challenges.


Role Duties and Responsibilities

You will have the responsibility to streamline the software development lifecycle to improve developer productivity, delivery speed, and code quality. S/He will work closely with development, operations and security teams to identify automation opportunities and resolve inefficiencies in delivery workflows.

Key responsibilities include automating delivery processes and maintaining the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.

  • Streamline the software development lifecycle by identifying automation opportunities and productivity barriers and determining ways to resolve them.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to understand their current build and release processes and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Streamline processes across cross-functional teams, including development, operations, quality assurance and security.
  • Provide guidance to development teams to improve the performance and operability of the solutions they develop.
  • Build and maintain the CI/CD pipelines to improve developer productivity, agility and code quality.
  • Develop and continuously improve automation solutions to enable teams to build and deploy code efficiently and consistently.
  • Create and maintain resource provisioning scripts or Infrastructure as Code
  • Integrate DevOps with security practices and standards to ensure strong DevSecOps is followed by product teams
  • Ensure that systems meet business and customer needs for reliability and availability.
  • Monitor and manage application performance and service quality, including initial troubleshooting, identification of root cases and issue resolution.
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to analyse and troubleshoot complex production issues.
  • Prepare and present design and implementation documentation to multiple stakeholders.
  • Promote DevOps principles and culture across the unit.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g. Java, C#, SQL, MS Dynamics 365, MS Power Platform and Azure Integration platform.
  • Strong automation scripting skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and experience
  • Ability to investigate and analyse information, and to draw conclusions.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and desire to learn new languages and technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum five years of relevant DevOps and Software engineering experience.
  • Experience developing CI/CD workflows and tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and technologies such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience with development platforms such as Azure, Docker, Kubernetes etc.
  • Experience delivering software with the SCRUM framework.
  • Experience in configuration management, test-driven development and release management.
  • Experience with agile development and a strong understanding of DevOps principles.
  • Experience with distributed systems communicating via APIs and /or Message Queues
  • Experience with feature-driven software delivery.
  • Experience with incident management.

Education

  • University degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, economics, statistics or related field with five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Diploma/Completed High School degree with seven years of relevant professional experience

Essential Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in English is required (oral and written), and have at least a working knowledge of one additional Language
  • Working knowledge of on additional language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish), however Spanish and French are preferable.
