Data Centre Engineer

Introduction

NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) operates a large Local Area Network (LAN). NSPA also provides services to both internal users and external customers from systems hosted in several data centres.  The NSPA Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services are relying on three underlying infrastructures:

1. Network
   1. Local Area Networks (LANs) to allow NSPA users to reachback ICT systems located in the NSPA datacenters.
   2. Wide Area Networks (WANs) to allow NSPA remote offices and mobile users to securely reach back the NSPA datacenters located in Luxembourg
   3. Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) to securely interconnect NSPA datacenters and Outside Cabling Plants (OCPs) located in Luxemourg.
2. Unified Communication
   1. Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems,
   2. Telephony systems composed of PBX, voice gateways, deskphones, softphones, mobile phones and smartphones.
   3. Interfaces with other communication services such as voice mail, instant messaging, collaboration (e.g., MS SKYPE).
   4. Federation with other NATO voice and video services.
   5. Public Announcement Systems (PAS) and Massive SMS notification systems alarms
3. Datacentres
   1. 2 Tier 4 datacenters externalized in Betzdorf and Bettembourg (LUX)
   2. 1 datacenter in Capellen (LUX)
   3. Smaller datacenters in Papa (HUN), Taranto (SOC) and Eindhoven (NL)

Tasks

Day-to-day Operation and Maintenance (O&M) type of consultancy services for network, Unified Communication (UC) and datacenter (DC) and support for projects related to specific network, UC and DC related projects.

Working Location

• Main working location: Capellen, Luxembourg (NSPA HQ)
  • Some projects may require business travel to other sites
  • Some remote/hybrid work may be required

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday:
  • Arrival 06:00 to 09:00
  • Lunch break Minimum 30 minutes 11:45 – 13:45
  • Departure 16:15 to 20:00
• Friday
  • Arrival 6:00 to 9:00
  • Departure 12:15 to 17:00
• Public Holiday of Luxenberg will be applicable

Mandatory Requirements

1. Qualifications and certifications
   1. A university degree or equivalent professional experience of 5 years
   2. Certified SYSTIMAX imVision Support Specialist [GL5555]
2. Knowledge and Skills
   1. The DC Engineer must prove that he/she has an understanding of these technologies and the ability to configure them Knowledge of various networking environment operating systems
      • Big scale high availability Data Center operations, management, deployments and decommissions.
      • Networking Administration (up to CCNA).
      • Structured cabling (Fiber and copper)
      • Project management (e.g. PRINCE II).
      • Structured cabling (Fiber and copper)
      • Asset Management
      • Change management skills
      • Cooling / power / UPS / Generator skill
      • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 
      • Solarwinds Orion
   2. The DC Engineer must prove that he/she has the following qualities: 
      • Good communications skills.
3. Experience
   1. The DC Engineer must prove that he/she has the following experience: 5 years’ experience in Unified Communications (voice and videoconferencing) specifically operational support
      • At least 2 years’ experience in a technical DC role, operating and maintaining datacenters and proven skills to manage DC projects
4. Knowledge with NATO network infra
   • • 2 year’s experience of working in a NATO environment
5. Language
   1. French and English (one fluent, one working level)
6. Security Clearance
   1. Valid NATO SECRET Personal Security Clearance
