Senior Network Engineer

Introduction

NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) operates a large Local Area Network (LAN). NSPA also provides services to both internal users and external customers from systems hosted in several data centres.  The NSPA Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services are relying on three underlying infrastructures:

1. Network
   1. Local Area Networks (LANs) to allow NSPA users to reachback ICT systems located in the NSPA datacenters.
   2. Wide Area Networks (WANs) to allow NSPA remote offices and mobile users to securely reach back the NSPA datacenters located in Luxembourg
   3. Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) to securely interconnect NSPA datacenters and Outside Cabling Plants (OCPs) located in Luxemourg.
2. Unified Communication
   1. Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems,
   2. Telephony systems composed of PBX, voice gateways, deskphones, softphones, mobile phones and smartphones.
   3. Interfaces with other communication services such as voice mail, instant messaging, collaboration (e.g. MS SKYPE).
   4. Federation with other NATO voice and video services.
   5. Public Announcement Systems (PAS) and Massive SMS notification systems alarms
3. Datacentres
   1. 2 Tier 4 datacenters externalized in Betzdorf and Bettembourg (LUX)
   2. 1 datacenter in Capellen (LUX)
   3. Smaller datacenters in Papa (HUN), Taranto (SOC) and Eindhoven (NL)

Tasks

Day-to-day Operation and Maintenance (O&M) type of consultancy services  for network, Unified Communication (UC) and datacenter (DC) and support for projects related to specific network, UC and DC related projects.

 Working Location

• Main working location: Capellen, Luxembourg (NSPA HQ)
  • Some projects may require business travel to other sites
  • Some remote/hybrid work may be required

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday:
  • Arrival 06:00 to 09:00
  • Lunch break Minimum 30 minutes 11:45 – 13:45
  • Departure 16:15 to 20:00
• Friday
  • Arrival 6:00 to 9:00
  • Departure 12:15 to 17:00
• Public Holiday of Luxenberg will be applicable

 Mandatory Requirements

1. Qualifications and certifications
   1. A university degree or equivalent professional experience of 5 years
   2. One of the following CISCO certifications:
      • CCNA Routing and Switching
      • CCNA Collaboration, Voice, Video
      • CCDA Design
      • CCDP Design
      • CCNP Routing and switching
   3. .F5 Application and Delivery Fundamentals
2. Proven knowledge and skills
   1. The Senior Network Engineer must prove that he/she understands these technologies and the ability to configure them
      • Cisco 800, 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 router series
      • Cisco 3750, 3850 3560, 2940, 6500 and Nexus 7K and 9K series switches
      • Cisco’s NAM (Network Analysis Module) and NAM-NX1
      • Fluke Trueview and VPM appliances
      • Infoblox DNS-DHCP management tools
      • Network analysers and sniffers for troubleshooting or network capacity planning
   2. The Network Engineer must prove that he/she has the following qualities:
      • Good communications skills. Excellent English report writing skills.
      • Solid understanding of the requirements of an overall network management strategy
      • Strong task and time management skills
3. Knowledge and Skills 
   1. The Senior Network Engineer must prove that he/she has a thorough understanding of these technologies, the ability to configure them, and significant deployment experience
      • LAN features such as RSTP (and its optimisations), 802.1Q and PVLANs, VDC
      • IP features such as PAT, DHCP, HSRP and OSPF
      • Qos features such as classification, marking, congestion management, shaping and policing
      • IPSec, and the ability to configure it in IOS (for both
        LAN to LAN and Easy VPN connections),GRE tunnels
      • IOS security features, such as reflexive access lists, and firewall
      • Application Centric Infra (ACI) and VRFs
      • Cisco ASA series and Cisco Anyconnect clients
      • Network Management tools such as ORION, Cisco prime infrastructure, ZABIX and Fluke Trueview
      • Wireless technologies - Cisco Access Points and remote terminals such as bar code readers for inventory management
      • ATMedia Ethernet encryptors 1G and 10G design and setup
      • Ucopia captive portal infrastructure design and setup
      • Security management platform Cisco ISE
4. Experience
   1. The Senior Network Engineer must prove that he/she has the following experience
      • At least 10 years’ experience in a technical networking or telecoms role, implementing and supporting LAN and WAN networking infrastructures
      • LAN and WAN network design experience
      • Extensive experience with high-availability and load- balancing solutions for network architectures
      • Experience of firewall solutions and understanding of how they are implemented
      • Extensive experience in managing all aspects of network projects for internal customers
      • Experience with ITIL concepts
5. Knowledge with NATO network infra
   • • Knowledge of, and experience with NATO, responsibilities and organization, and NATO's network infrastructure, in particular NGCS
6. Language
   • • French and English (one fluent, one working level)
7. Security Clearance
   • • Valid NATO SECRET Personal Security Clearance
