The Engineering Leader is part of the Digital Products - team under Digital Commerce collaborates with Digital Products and Digital Commerce teams to establish the vision, provide the development roadmap, and lead all engineering aspects of the brand website ( This position is responsible for maintaining existing systems, providing development direction, proposing innovative solutions to day to day problems, and exhibiting agile leadership. This person will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of backend and frontend systems that deliver an outstanding consumer website experience.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Lead a team of developers within Digital Commerce to deliver outsized results across Global E-commerce, working cross-functionally
  • Lead multiple, concurrent initiatives in various phases of discovery, conceptualization, execution, and delivery
  • Work with product managers, delivery, & design leadership to identify and unblock dependencies and constraints that might impact the delivery of initiatives
  • Coordinate with the Delivery Managers the release of new features to maximize Go to Market while keeping the site performing at optimum levels
  • Build, develop, and evangelize the product roadmap for both functional and non-functional features that achieve rider needs
  • Understand business needs and convert business requirements into a design & ability to see through the modular issues
  • Identify Risks within the product development and propose innovative strategies to mitigate them
  • Becoming a reliable liaison between engineering / delivery teams to keep focus on high value deliverables and business deadlines
  • Continuously find opportunities, analyze business benefit, evaluate return on investment and help prioritize initiatives to develop a roadmap that delivers on our shared vision and strategy
  • Make prioritization and trade-off decisions, balancing the consumer experience, launch complexity and timeline, development effort across multiple product teams, and business value
  • Support ongoing development and quality checks for existing projects/applications
  • Work with directly with the Delivery team to ensure high quality solutions are delivered into production
  • Elevate the team by empowering and guiding the team members individually to achieve successful results
  • Strategize on resource allocation to maximize production based on skills, and promoting exposure to new areas of the system to new members to allow Knowledge Transfer

How you win

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Backend Engineer or Frontend Engineering role working on a consumer facing multilingual enterprise-level application
  • 2+ years' experience building and leading high-performing teams
  • 2+ years' experience overseeing multi country / multi language e-commerce sites
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong ability to develop structured frameworks and approaches and innovative thinking to solve sophisticated challenges in a fluid environment
  • Very comfortable working with source code control and versioning tools (Git preferred)
  • Extensive experience with Mobile First Website development, and hands on experience on Hybris core architecture, Cockpits, and ImpEx
  • Extensive understanding of Web Development patters (MVC, REST, MicroService, Dependency Injection)
  • Extensive understanding of strategies to improve Web Site performance, Security and Reliability (CDN, Logging, Authentications, Authorizations, Latency, Service Inter Communications, etc)
  • Mastery on browser development tools to measure performance and be able to troubleshoot problems when needed
  • Familiarity with data privacy concepts (GDPR, PCI, HIPAA)
  • Elevated attention to detail and Observation skills to identify strengths and opportunities not only for products, but also for team members 
  • Experience with Atlassian Confluence, JIRA, JIRA Service Desk, Slack, Miro, Dropbox, Figma and other collaboration tools
  • High level of energy, passion and enthusiasm for fitness  lifestyle in general and cycling in particular
