OPERATIONS ENGINEER (FLUIDS)
The operations engineering role will support the Falcon Precision Tube Fabrication Shop through strategic planning, optimization of production processes, and alignment of resources to tasks. We are looking for engineers to lead cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams with the goal of optimizing a high rate, high mix production resource in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking emerging leaders who can join teams and apply principles of operations engineering, operations research, industrial engineering, and data science to complex operational problems. We are searching for qualified engineers who can conduct complex problem analysis, and steer strategic decisions within production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop tools to analyze delivery, capacity, and cost problems, informing decisions for production, supply chain, and operations
Work as part of a team to develop and manage production strategy to mitigate future production risks and seize emerging opportunities to improve safety, quality, output, and cost
Define and develop department-level metrics that quantify the health of our operation, and influence change to positively impact production deliveries
Produce data visualizations using both Grafana and PowerBI software tools. Produce complex ad-hoc queries and reports to steer the production organization
Develop process flow models to analyze production system behavior and provide solutions to production risks and bottlenecks
Identify operational challenges within the organization, determine root cause, and implement appropriate solutions to achieving aggressive rate targets
Develop and track key performance measures, and identify decision points and actions to optimize production to meet demand
Actively develop system and process improvements within and between production elements
Collaborate with cross-departmental partners in supply chain, engineering, operations, and planning groups to synchronize efforts
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
1+ years of experience in using Excel, SQL, or Python/R for analysis or modeling dynamic systems
1+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, or consulting role
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
On-the-floor manufacturing experience breaking bottlenecks and improving production flow
2+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, or consulting role
Familiarity with and practice applying lean manufacturing methodologies
Experience with scheduling, prioritization, and material planning in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in at least one analytics language (ex. Python)
Understanding of database structures, query optimizations, and ETL development
Start-up, consulting, or other demonstrated experience in high-growth, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Strong project management and self-directed prioritization skills
Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences at all organizational levels
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across disciplines and with multiple levels of management
Experience performing data analysis on manufacturing systems (e.g. Manufacturing Execution Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning)
Master’s degree in engineering, operations management, computer science, management information systems, statistics, mathematics, or similar technical discipline
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
Must be willing to travel up to 5-10%
This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Operations Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year Operations Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
