SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
CIVIL/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (STARSHIP)
Building on the rapid advancement of the Starship program, we are moving into a new phase of facility and infrastructure growth. As the Starship launch cadence ramps up we are in need of multiple high rise facilities to support new vehicle builds and reflight refurbishment across various sites. We are currently seeking structural engineers to serve as highrise specialists supporting rapid development and build of Starships next generation vertical integration facilities. It is these facilities that will ultimately enable the path to the Moon, Mars and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own structural engineering work packages for the production site design and development, with a heavy focus on integrated high rise facilities:
- Design elements of multidisciplinary, multistory projects for new construction and modifications to existing structures. This includes all phases of project development, from conceptual feasibility studies, preliminary design through construction completion
- Perform standard and complex structural engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology and principles and other viable approaches. Our structures are unique with few precedents and aggressive schedules, ability to think outside the box is a must.
- Perform building level structural analysis and design for large steel and reinforced concrete buildings, including shallow and deep foundations. The candidate will need to quickly iterate at the conceptual level to drive rapid project development
- Create structural design drawings, calculations, and design summary presentations
- Estimate material quantities, schedules, and costs for construction projects
- Write and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines
- Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
- Manage multi-discipline design and construction projects, including coordination of typical systems found in high rise buildings (MEP, HVAC, etc)
