About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the development of our state-of-the-art Ad Management product. This product is revolutionizing the way open web publishers manage their programmatic sales by providing advanced workflow software. Our platform seamlessly integrates with every major Supply Side Platform (SSP), employs cutting-edge machine learning techniques for yield optimization, and offers unified, intuitive reporting.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Coach, develop, and lead a full stack engineering team to innovate and expand our ad management product.
  • Architect and implement scalable, high-performance software solutions in the cloud (AWS), ensuring reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive the integration of major SSPs, ensuring robust and scalable connectivity.
  • Collaborate with product managers, and other stakeholders to define product vision and roadmap, aligning development efforts with business goals and customer needs.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Manage the entire software development lifecycle, from planning and prioritization to testing and release.
  • Provide strategic direction, development oversight, and performance accountability for Sovrn’s Ad Management.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, maintaining high levels of security and data privacy.
  • Monitor system performance, anticipate potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal uptime and user experience.
  • Manage key engineering metrics such as development cycle time, team velocity, software quality, and team morale. 
  • Empower engineering teams and leaders to drive standards, ensure code quality and foster a culture of strong engineering design, delivery and quality.
  • Spot, attract, and retain top-tier engineering talent.

A successful candidate will have: 

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in cloud computing platforms, preferably AWS or GCP, including experience with infrastructure as code, automated deployment, and cloud-native services.
  • Experience with developing or delivering web services and applications.
  • Knowledge of machine learning applications in real-time prediction and optimization.
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Proficient in software development best practices and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Experience with the digital advertising ecosystem, including SSPs, Ad Exchanges, DSPs, and related technologies is required.
  • Experience building, operating, and scaling high performance, highly transactional systems
  • Experience building and operating SaaS web applications.
  • Passion and drive to help the team improve and deliver great products.
  • Active listening and respect for others opinions and ideas.
  • Experience working closely with Product Management and Creative teams to design new features and empower the engineering teams to develop them.
  • Experience working with remote engineering teams geographically distributed across the world.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field recommended.

Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate compensation range for this role in Boulder, Colorado is a base of $165,000 to $180,000, and eligibility for commissions compensation. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location.
