  • Our team currently works remote from home. We plan to reopen offices in 3-6 months and offer a flexible workplace experience.
  • Offices: Santa Clara (HQ), San Francisco, Boulder, Toronto, Berlin, Paris, Netherlands, Tokyo, Beijing (remote work allowed) 

We are looking for someone who loves languages and technology, is proficient in English and is a native, fluent speaker in any of the following languages:

  • Danish
  • Norwegian
  • Swedish

We validate voice recordings and other language data, and contribute phonetic and other linguistic input, working directly with our ASR engineers to train and test our speech models and NLU results.

Example projects include validating speech training data, working on our pronunciation dictionaries, phonetic transcriptions, data curation for ASR, and other work required to support the training of all our models.  Working generally to advocate for our partners and their end users to ensure a satisfying voice user experience from the recognition of speech queries and commands to the returned results.

There also may be project coordination, Unix/Python scripting, and team lead and/or people management opportunities available to candidates that demonstrate sufficient proficiency (all related to our language and linguistic work).

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation and adaptation of best practices, process and procedures as we grow the team.  You will also work collaboratively with peer team leads and managers, and help to hire language team members (freelancers, contractors and employees).

  • You are eligible to work in California, Boulder, Toronto, Berlin or Paris
  • You are  proficient in English
  • You are native and fluent in at least one of the Scandanavian languages listed above (written, verbal and grammar)
  • You are trained in language studies and/or have a language degree or have a degree in Linguistics or equivalent experience
  • You are extremely focused and enjoy completing detailed, repetitive data quality verification tasks daily, at a very high quality level
  • You are flexible and collaborative, but you can also work independently and enjoy taking on new tasks
  • You are accountable. You take 100% ownership with an extremely high attention to detail and follow through
  • You are intrigued by language and science, and the possibilities created when these two things meet

We'd be especially excited if:

  • You have experience as a data evaluator or have worked with training data for machine learning
  • You are experienced working with data vendors
  • You have data curation, data quality or software QA experience
  • You have experience working with external business partners and vendors
  • You have Unix, Python or C++ or other programming experience
  • You have project management/coordination experience
  • You have people management experience
  • You are experienced with Google Docs, Excel and Jira
  • You are a music lover and enjoy solving puzzles!
