SoundCloud is looking for a Senior On-Premise Network Engineer to join our Systraf team.  As a Senior On-Premise Network Engineer, you will be at our forefront of designing, managing, and maintaining our hybrid network infrastructure. You'll use your expertise in multi-region network topology, routing, and hybrid cloud architectures to optimize performance and reliability.

You’ll collaborate closely with infrastructure and engineering teams across multiple time zones to automate and manage our infrastructure through tools like Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Bash. Your work will extend to bare-metal servers, switches, routers, and metal-as-a-service systems within our data centers. You will also manage critical services like IP address management (IPAM) for automation and network efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain multi-region hybrid network infrastructures across on-premise, AWS, and GCP environments, ensuring high availability and efficient performance.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, Go, and Bash, enhancing efficiency and consistency across network operations.
  • Analyze network topology, routing, and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities, implementing solutions to improve overall system reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate network solutions across diverse environments, maintaining alignment and consistency with organizational goals.
  • Maintain and enhance network services and security in AWS (VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Route 53) and on-premise systems, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable connectivity solutions.

Experience and Background:

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, including designing, implementing, and managing hybrid network infrastructures across on-premise, AWS, and GCP environments.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code, with emphasis on Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Bash
  • Experience with bare-metal servers, switches and routers, metal-as-a-service systems, data center environments, and configuration management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with IPAM for automation and effective network management.
  • Skilled in Linux systems, managing software load balancers and reverse proxies such as HAProxy or Envoy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team distributed across multiple time zones.
  • Preparedness for participation in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Familiar with AWS network services like Virtual Private Cloud, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, WAF/Shield, and CloudFront
