THE ROLE
The Security Manager is responsible for assuring the safety and security of Sotheby’s physical assets, employees, clients, visitors and others. Under the direction of the Director of Risk Management and Security, the Security Manger will oversee, manage, supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations and administration of the Security Department and work closely with other senior managers and executives to coordinate security efforts, initiatives and standards across the company. The Security Manager is responsible for security policy development, compliance and the implementation and incorporation of industry best practices.
RESPONSIBLITIES
- Oversight of the day to day operations and administration of the Security Department.
- Accountable for planning, developing,implementing and maintaining the physical security (CCTV, alarm, access control) and asset protection for all Sotheby’s locations in the France, in line with Sotheby’s global security strategy
- Evaluates Sotheby’s security needs and operations and identifies protection goals and objectives consistent with the organization’s needs and its strategic plan.
- Maintains the security readiness and emergency preparedness of organization by developing and implementing proactive, preventive security programs.
- Be commercially aware and manages the Security and Property Management budgets and vendors.
- Prepares regular management and analysis reports on the Security function and on security related activities and incidents in the organization.
- Manages security for all exhibitions and events. Work closely with the Logistics and Events departments in the planning, management and security of exhibitions and events, including for offsite locations.
- Assists with damage/loss investigations, CCTV reviewing, evidence taking, reporting and all emergency response. Lead the Emergency Team and respond to all medical, security, fire, environmental or other incidents.
- Identifies training requirements and ensures that the Security Team are fully trained, including response to support Fire and Evacuation procedures in accordance with statutory legislation. Provide safety and security induction training to all new staff.
- Maintains relationships with local law enforcement and other related government agencies
- Manage and direct all aspects associated with building and office maintenance, office furniture and equipment, facilities renovation and construction activities to include planning, cost estimating, budgeting, documentation and negotiating contracts as well as construction and maintenance monitoring and supervising work station moves.
- Ensure effective Environmental Health and Safety including appropriate emergency preparedness, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery capabilities
- Manages the third party food and beverage agreement
- Manages third party building management team, including cleaning and maintenance
- Responsible for workplace space management
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 5 years management experience, demonstrating exposure to and expertise in physical and property-based security command and control
- Good level of spoken and written English language.
- Background in law enforcement, military or intelligence preferred.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of integrated security systems technology
- Strong understanding of building management systems
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
