Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - Network Services! 

In this role, you will be a core participant in projects involving high performance computing technologies in the areas of high speed LAN/MAN/WAN networking, high performance storage, large scale systems administration and engineering, virtualization, and enterprise network security. We are building a high performance globally distributed digital workflow for visual effects and animation production and this is a superb opportunity to work on technically challenging projects in a very creative work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Stable operation of the enterprise networking services infrastructure including routers, switches, servers, security and monitoring devices.
  • Implementation and maintenance of network services including DNS, DHCP, authentication services (LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, MFA), firewalls, VPN remote access services, server load balancing, proxy servers, and other related network technologies.
  • Build, configure, coordinate and monitor production critical application servers using technologies including VMware, nginx, squid, apache, docker, OpenShift, and other open-source, 3rd party and proprietary software.
  • Implementation and administration of cloud platform and SaaS services: GCP, AWS, Azure, Google Workspace, Okta, Azure AD
  • Automate operational and management processes using modern programming languages and toolsets, including python, puppet, ansible, git, terraform.
  • Offer technical assistance and mentoring to other team members.
  • Provide backline (and occasional frontline) engineering support of helpdesk and production issues.
  • Participate in rotating on-call, night and weekend support schedule.

  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to perform as an individual and on a team.
  • Has experience working in the CG feature animation and visual effects industry or related field.

Requirements/Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of network and systems administration experience, preferably in a lead or senior position.
  • Strong proficiency in LAN/WAN technologies: TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancers, IPSec/SSL VPN, OSPF, BGP, MPLS.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages and automation tools: python, puppet, ansible, git, terraform
  • Network security devices and standard processes: firewalls, IPSec & SSL VPN, IDS/IPS, MFA, PKI, Web Security Gateways
  • Identity and authentication: Active Directory, OpenLDAP, SAML/SSO, Okta
  • Large scale (500+) systems administration and performance optimization.
  • Multi-platform experience a plus: Linux (Redhat/CentOS), Mac OSX, Windows.
  • Virtualization or container technologies: VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes, docker
  • Cloud and SaaS technologies: GCP, Azure, AWS, Google Workspace
  • Web and database technologies: nginx, apache, proxy servers, postgresql, cassandra, mysql
  • VDI technologies: HP/Teradici, Parsec, RDP, a plus
  • Understanding of NAS and SAN storage architectures and related protocols: NFS, CIFS, FC. NetApp or Isilon experience desirable.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $94,500 - $125,200/yr USD. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
