PlayStation is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with video codec experience to push the limits of streaming technology. As the leaders of game streaming, the Core team is responsible for developing the technology that powers many PlayStation streaming services.
As a video codec expert, you are able to craft the most optimal solution that fulfills the product’s requirements. Thinking outside of the box, your solution pushes the boundaries of streaming technology, while remaining within the confines of the codec. Never satisfied with the status quo, you are continually looking for ways to improve the technology.
Engineer solutions for different streaming use cases
Implement new client and server features
Push technological boundaries on R&D projects
Document key technical areas for knowledge sharing
Give technical presentations to internal teams
Mentor engineers in key technical areas
Experience working with one or more of the following: H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9
Expert on video compression techniques
MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
5+ years programming in C/C++
Excellent design and debugging skills
Motivated self starter, capable of removing roadblocks
Attention to detail at both the product and coding level
Ability to work with others and communicate ideas effectively (written and verbal)
Experience with streaming technologies such as HLS or DASH
Multi platform encoding/decoding experience
Experience working with client/server architecture
Network experience with UDP protocols
