UX Researcher / Operations Coordinator (Contract)
San Diego, CA

The UX Researcher / Operations Coordinator (Contract) is responsible for two separate, yet complimentary, functions on the UX Research team: A. Supporting the team with coordination of projects and operations, B. Assisting with UX Research projects.

First and foremost, you will be responsible for coordinating operations to ensure successful team utilization of external vendors. As an ideal candidate, you are experienced with operational control of research related activities and monitoring budget.

These activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with lead project researchers to submit RFP’s
  • Aid in properly selecting vendors and adhering to related processes/tools
  • Manage Statements of Work and related processes/tools
  • Manage Purchase Orders and related processes/tools
  • Manage contracts, invoicing and related processes/tools
  • Create and maintain documentation of key tasks and processes
  • Maintain system which gives visibility of all outstanding spend
  • Report monthly KPIs

Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting in the execution of UX research. In this role you let your passion shine by consistently advocating for user needs and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to implement the best solutions to user problems. You have an excellent understanding of the UX Design process, principles and patterns, and technological capabilities/limitations.

These activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, preparing, and executing key components of end-to-end UX Research - from foundational research to inform product direction, all the way to concept and usability testing.
    • Logistics
    • Moderation and Observation
    • Transcription
    • Creating video clips
    • Recruiting participants
  • Ensuring that research deliverables are high quality and meet the established standards and guidelines and go beyond “bullet points”.
  • Manage communication with stakeholders, including designers, product managers, project managers and engineers inside various divisions.
  • Helping to maintain a recruitment database of past, present, and prospective participants
  • Act as the point of contact for our UX Research Labs


  • Minimum BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, UX Design, related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of relevant UX Research and Operations experience
  • Proven track record of managing contracts, invoices, and budget related processes/tools
  • A robust understanding of industry-standard UX research methods
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain internal and external partnerships
  • Knowledge of, and passion for gaming, media and software industries is a big plus
