Role Overview:

Reporting into the Corporate Accounting Manager, this is a fantastic role suited for a part qualified accountant with previous finance experience. The role is responsible for ensuring there is accurate accounting and reporting, of (SIEE) actuals.   The role will also be required to work with the business and other members of the central finance team so requires good people skills and excellent organisation skills to prioritise the workload and an ability to keep to tight deadlines at month-end. 

This role can be either London or Liverpool UK

What you’ll be doing:

 Financial Accounting related tasks:

  • Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying and entering transactions.
  • Preparation of monthly Central Overhead Cost Centre reports of actuals and commitments versus budget/forecast and review reports with budget holders.
  • Production of monthly cost centre reports and month end rationalisation against flash and forecast, and presentation to stakeholders.
  • Perform GL coding reviews of key P&L accounts.
  • Posting of key month end journals.
  • Monthly clearance of open items in Balance Sheet
  • Prepare all recharges for month end prior to month end close and ensuring that the recharge account is reconciled fully monthly.
  • Review and approve Overhead Purchase Requisitions on behalf of Finance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to purchasing principles.
  • Calculation and posting of Facilities recharge on a monthly basis.
  • Manage and maintain fixed asset register on a monthly basis ensuring correct capitalisation of assets and posting of depreciation.
  • Reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts including Fixed Assets.
  • Monthly review and reclassification of Profit Centre postings
  • Support Accounts Payable team with Overhead specific queries.
  • Assist business users with SAP related issues.
  • Liaise with business to ensure correct PO management / goods receipting / timely invoice submission.
  • Provide GTO with relevant tax information with regards to overhead costs and fixed assets.
  • Assist Internal audit, SOX audit and External audit teams with general ledger data requests and ensure all requested data is accurate and provided to requested timelines.
  • Ensure National Statistics questionnaires are completed to required timelines.
  • Support month-end close and reporting pack and assist Corporate Accounting Manager and Financial Controller where necessary.
  • Actively seek to implement continuous improvement in area of responsibility.
  • Ad hoc requests as required.

Planning related tasks:

  • Support Corporate Planning in reviewing the output from annual budget packs and quarterly forecast packs.
  • Produce monthly cost centre reports and liaise with budget holders/finance business partners on key variances.
  • Work closely with each department Finance business partners to review and amend cost centre forecasts and budgets.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Studying towards finance qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
  • At least 2 years’ experience working within a finance team of large multinational organisation.
  • Previous experience of project accounting and managing large project budgets (preferred)
  • Systems literate – with experience of SAP and Business Warehouse preferable.
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Proven experience of contributing to a controlled and well-ordered financial close
  • Ability to work within a time pressured environment and to strict deadlines.
  • Strong time-management and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience of working closely with non-finance business stakeholders and ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation (preferred)
  • A proactive and conscientious working attitude, as well as ability to use initiative.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting.
