Solid Power is seeking a Sr. Chemical Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position will be a part of powder production team for the transition of Solid Power’s current electrolyte production technology to mass production. The Sr. Chemical Engineer will lead powder production process improvement & optimization to help in the execution of powder production scale-up and to implement necessary changes to enhance current powder production technology in the Solid Power’s electrolyte products.
Work closely with powder production manager and equipment manager to ensure successful transfer of the electrolyte production technology to mass production.
Design, troubleshoot and optimize powder production processes to improve Solid Power’s electrolyte products.
Refine production process control parameters and their specifications to meet internal & external customers’ requirement.
Determine process capability & operation window through DOE & statistical analysis and improve process SOPs for process & equipment operation.
Collaborate with QC engineer and data scientist to upgrade solid electrolyte MES to monitor real time production conditions and control key elements of the production process.
Actively engage and manage external vendors associated with powder production scale-up.
Lead Process Hazard Analysis and implement the appropriate layers of safety procedure to comply OSHA and PSM standards.
Communicate process analysis results effectively with team members and other department to meet project goals.
Minimum of master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field (Materials Sci., or Chemistry). Minimum 3 years of Industry experience in the materials production environment.
Analytical skills for troubleshooting process and equipment problems.
Interpersonal skills in developing positive working relations with other employees.
Experience in commercial Li-ion battery materials (cathode or anode active materials) production is a plus.
U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000/year
