Solid Power is seeking a Cell Validation Engineer II to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position will work closely with cell engineering team, testing team & external labs to help in the execution of battery cell test plans to qualify the Solid Power’s solid state battery technology.
Review and execute Design Validation Plan for qualification of rechargeable lithium battery cells.
Write up detailed test procedures for life, performance & abuse tests. Write programs to execute the tests on battery test equipment such as Arbin, Maccor. Start the tests and follow them through completion.
Analyze and evaluate test data drawing conclusions, prepare detailed validation reports and present to key stakeholders.
Serve as main contact point for outside test labs conducting abuse & electrical tests.
Use the company’s document and change control system to properly archive technical documentation.
Work closely, collaboratively, and effectively with other departments and team members.
Minimum of Masters degree in Electrochemistry or chemical or mechanical or material science engineering.
Minimum 3 years of Industry experience in testing and validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery rechargeable cells.
In-depth knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation and performance including charging, discharging, cycle life, temperature effects and failure modes.
Proficient in programming & using battery cell test equipment (Arbin & Maccor) and proficient in reviewing and analyzing various aspects of test data.
Strong knowledge in test procedures, international standards applicable to rechargeable lithium cells.
Experience in test procedure development for lithium ion battery cells.
Experience in data analysis, preparing & presenting validation reports to internal and external customers.
U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $94,000/year
