Team Overview:

The Systems Integration and Test team (I&T) is focused on validating, integrating, verifying, and qualifying SOE designs. I&T takes ownership of end-to-end projects and works closely with project teams and customers to learn designs and use cases.  Every team member works to understand a wide variety of problems in new or legacy designs and can architect systematic means of implementing & testing solutions. Team members emphasize reusability, automation, and developing hardware and software infrastructure to serve internal and external customers as efficiently as possible.

Job Overview:

As a Senior Integration & Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, execution, and success of novel test projects and campaigns for a range of industries. This will require you to lead and support multidisciplinary project teams and to develop and set the standard for what exceptional Test project output should look like at SOE. In this role, you will be expected to proactively support the maturation of the Integration and Test department at SOE by providing mentorship to other teammates and strategically investing in and developing infrastructure to enable the growth of the team and company.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the development of custom electromechanical test systems for customers in a variety of industries, including aerospace, renewable energy, and medical devices 
  • Work with hardware, firmware and software teams to understand device-under-test functionality, coverage, edge cases, and testing requirements in order to architect test system designs
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure geared towards improving the efficiency of the Integration & Test team
  • Develop test programs, lead test readiness reviews, and perform test campaigns on complex electromechanical systems
  • Partner with internal and external customers to lead the development and execution of test systems and campaigns, ensuring customer success and engagement throughout the project
  • Mentor and guide the I&T team’s technical skill set
  • Support Business Development (BD) efforts, which include generating and reviewing estimates for project efforts and assessing the scope of new work 

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, Mechanical engineering related field)
  • 5+ years of experience developing and building custom electromechanical hardware test systems (eg HITLs, SILs) and/or designing test campaigns for aerospace, automotive, medical, industrial industries
  • 2+ years of experience mentoring/ leading engineers as a manager or subject matter expert
  • Strong ability to synthesize and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Depth in at least one core engineering discipline (Electrical, Firmware, Mechanical) and an understanding of interfaces to other disciplines 
  • Ability to autonomously develop an understanding of engineering areas outside of immediate expertise by utilizing different strategies (research, first principles, asking for help etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of physics with respect to electricity, magnetism, and electronic circuits
  • Experience selecting and working with data acquisition systems and control systems to continually improve in-test data recording and usability of the systems 
  • Experience in any common MCAD and ECAD tools

What Would Be Useful:

  • Experience with Python, C++, and object oriented programming
  • Versed in qualification testing for aerospace or automotive products; familiarity with aerospace environmental testing such as thermal cycling, vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and EMI/EMC
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, and testing of electronics
  • Experience with common rack-mount systems, optical breadboards, t-slot systems
  • Proficiency with data analysis, data visualization, database management
  • Experience with hands-on assembly of basic electromechanical systems
  • Experience using test instrumentation and control components such as: pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, load cells

Additional Requirements: 

  • Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in El Segundo, California, USA
  • Applicant must be eligible to work on ITAR projects
