What You’ll Do

Working within an organization created at the intersection of health care, retail and financial technology, no two days will look the same.  You will:

  • Manage a small team of software engineers whose focus is on managing and categorizing the millions of items sold in groceries, pharmacies, and retailers across the country
  • Commit code and review PR’s. Our managers are hands-on, and experience in golang or another statically typed server language is a must
  • Define the work breakdown and plan that delivers a quality product on time
  • Report directly to the CTO, as part of a capable, nimble, high-performing engineering staff
  • Lead efficient weekly ceremonies that respect engineering time-to-build
  • Understand what motivates team members, and create opportunities for them to thrive
  • Participate in a healthy production culture (including sane, balanced on-call)
  • Deliver features safely to production via continuous delivery during working hours

About You

While every candidate brings a unique resume and prospective, an ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-3 years of management experience at a company where software is the product, in addition to senior-level software engineering skills
  • Experience in a regulated industry, working with sensitive data, at scale using machine learning. Retail and/or assortment management experience would be a big plus🇨🇭for this role
  • Love of people and a commitment to the management track
  • High expectations of yourself, your colleagues, and those who report to you
  • Courage to face challenging managerial situations head-on
  • Interest in developing your management skills
  • Confidence and ability to provide supportive and critical feedback in PR reviews to make the code better for everyone
  • Passion to solve problems for real, everyday people
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar experience strongly preferred

Other Requirements

  • Travel may be required from time to time as part of the role, for company events and business needs
  • Soda Health is a remote-first, distributed workforce. Candidates should be comfortable with, and equipped to work within, a distributed remote team, including having reliable internet access and basic home office equipment. Soda Health will provide a really nice work laptop, and mouse/keyboard upon request
