ROLE
OSL Data & Automation team located in Brussels, is an integral part of WPP Global collaborating with partners from all around the globe, including Europe, UK, Africa, and the US. As the leading technical expert in our Data & Automation team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our data infrastructure and processes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to our entrepreneurial spirit, building solutions to improve efficiency and quality output both for us and our partners. This role is a 50/50 split between consulting and implementation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a data engineer, your main responsibilities will include:
- Architecting, building, and maintaining cloud-based data systems (Azure, GCP, and AWS), including services like Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse.
- Developing and maintaining data pipelines with a focus on API-based data sources.
- Implementing data integration solutions, including tools like Funnel, custom ETL processes, and big data technologies such as Spark and Kafka.
- Managing cloud storage solutions and optimizing their performance.
- Developing and integrating APIs.
- Leading DevOps practices for our data infrastructure.
- Collaborating with internal and external partners on data-related projects.
- Documenting data processes and ensuring best practices are followed.
- Innovating and improving current data processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Providing support and troubleshooting for data-related issues.
- Supporting the team's ML initiatives and data visualization efforts.
PROFILE
- 3-4 years of experience in data engineering.
- Proven experience in system architecture design and implementation.
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, and AWS), with hands-on experience in services like Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse.
- Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency in programming languages including Python. Experience with other languages (R, JavaScript, C#, Scala) is a plus.
- Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, AWS Glue) and ETL frameworks.
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Pandas.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and implementations.
- Proficiency in version control (Git) and containerization (Docker).
- Experience with DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of data security and governance, including compliance standards such as GDPR is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts is a plus.
