Staff Software Engineer

Tel Aviv

Every day, the world gets more digital thanks to tens of millions of developers building the future faster than ever. But with exponential growth comes exponential risk, as outnumbered security teams struggle to secure mountains of code. This is where Snyk (pronounced “sneak”) comes in. Snyk is a developer security platform that makes it easy for development teams to find, prioritize, and fix security vulnerabilities in code, dependencies, containers, and cloud infrastructure — and do it all right from the start. Snyk is on a mission to make the world a more secure place by empowering developers to develop fast and stay secure.

Joining Snyk means embracing our core values: One Team, Care Deeply, Customer Centric, and Forward Thinking. As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to thrive in a dynamic environment where fostering collaboration, leading with empathy, driving business impact, and inspiring trust are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Opportunity

As a Staff Software Engineer at Snyk, you'll be at the forefront of building the future of application security. You’ll be challenged to create high-performance, reliable, and scalable services while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about crafting exceptional software, solving complex problems, and driving innovation.

The Runtime Insights Team is at the forefront of leveraging runtime data to enhance Snyk's products, such as Software Composition Analysis (Snyk Open Source) and Static Application Security Testing (Snyk Code) . Our mission is to deliver actionable insights by using technologies like eBPF and code-to-cloud correlation to bridge the gap between runtime behavior and software vulnerabilities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Software Engineer to join our Runtime Insights Team. You will work on developing innovative solutions for capturing and analyzing runtime data to provide developers and security teams with enhanced context for vulnerability prioritization and remediation. This is a high-impact role that involves working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers across Snyk.

You’ll Spend Your Time:

  • Proactively identifying and design improvements to the system, for near-term and long-term strategic innovation for new products.
  • Understanding, breaking down, clarifying and tackling ambiguous design choices.
  • Championing team members to grow and improve their technical skills.
  • Identifying conflicts with other groups and seek resolutions that improve on what either group did on their own.
  • Assuring that internal SLOs for our service architecture are met by the group's external interfaces and APIs.
  • Driving improvements to the stability, performance and security across the group's 4-year evolution.
  • Actively engaging in coding.
  • Driving collaboration across the group. Build trust between teammates, stakeholders, and other engineers.
  • Proactively identifying potential challenges across the group, drive solutions to them, and influence implementation.
  • Modelling sustainable working for the group, making incremental and predictable changes.
  • Engaging engineers across the group and enable them to try new ideas and learn from trial and error (e.g. post-mortems).
  • Growing good engineers into great engineers.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience working with one of our development languages (Typescript, Go), or are a polyglot with experience learning a new language.
  • At least 10 years of software engineering experience, leading and mentoring engineers.
  • Understand the importance of automated testing (maybe with experience in TDD) and code quality.
  • Prioritize collaboration, pair programming, and code reviews.
  • Work sustainably and iteratively, delivering high quality code using continuous delivery.
  • Are comfortable working across the stack as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Be approachable and friendly; an excellent communicator.
  • Promote testing as a natural part of any coding effort.

We’d be Lucky if You:

  • Like to start new things, see them through to production, and learn from your mistakes
  • Love working in a fast-paced start-up environment that respects its engineers and customers.
  • Enjoy solving complex technical problems.
  • Feel comfortable working with uncertainties and unknowns.
