Job Title: Compensation & Benefits Specialist
Location: Overland Park, Ks (Hybrid 3 days in office and 2 WFH)

POSITION SUMMARY: Smart Warehousing is looking for a dynamic Compensation & Benefits Specialist to join our HR team. This role will be the subject matter expert on our Compensation, Benefits, and Wellness programs, overseeing day-to-day administration, including leave of absence and worker's compensation processes. The ideal candidate will drive employee engagement, participation, and education across these areas while ensuring communication strategies align with our company goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBLITIES:
Compensation:
- Administer the day-to-day operations of the compensation program, including reporting and analytics.
- Support the design and execution of compensation strategies, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Conduct market research and create salary range recommendations based on third-party data.
- Assist in the annual merit cycle, managing system builds and support from start to finish.
- Provide training and communication to managers and employees on compensation programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local compensation regulations.
Benefits:
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
- Lead the annual open enrollment process, including readiness, education, and post-enrollment support.
- Manage the ongoing relationship with insurance carriers and brokers to ensure smooth operation of benefit plans.
- Ensure compliance with all benefits-related regulations and complete required audits.
- Administer the company’s 401(k) plan, ensuring compliance and managing the annual audit process.
Leave of Absence (LOA):
- Administer leave of absence policies, including FMLA, parental leave, and other applicable leave programs.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave procedures and eligibility.
- Ensure compliance with multistate leave regulations, including those in California.
- Manage the employee life cycle related to leave, including time off requests and employee status changes.
Wellness:
- Support the design and execution of wellness initiatives that promote employee health and well-being.
- Drive employee participation and engagement in wellness programs.
- Recommend enhancements to the wellness program, ensuring alignment with company goals and employee needs.
- Assist in the creation and communication of wellness education materials.
Worker’s Compensation:
- Oversee the worker’s compensation process, including claims management and compliance with state regulations.
- Provide support and resources to employees and managers regarding worker’s compensation procedures.
- Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of worker’s compensation claims.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA reporting requirements and other necessary audits.
“THE PERSON” | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4 or more years of experience in benefit administration, leave of absence, or compensation or a combination of relatable experience.
- Experience with multistate leave of absence including CA preferred.
- Experience with HRIS systems.
- Proficient in Excel with experience in V-Look Ups and Pivot Tables.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to work with large amounts of data.
- Ability to create and present program content and trainings
- Understanding of state and federal laws and regulations for various HR topics including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, wellness, leave of absence, and work comp.
- Quick learner, able to understand and apply new processes efficiently.
