As a Senior Product Designer, you will apply principles of design to create first-in-class enterprise collaborative tools and content experiences in partnership with others. You will seek to understand business needs, represent customer needs, and promote human-centered methodologies across the team. Your role will elevate the standards of craft and visual design, driving clarity and effectiveness in our solutions by nurturing your passion for quality and ensuring high standards in visual design and user experience.

You will report to our Manager, Product Design located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Take initiative and ownership in delivering high-quality user experiences.
  • Elevate standards for ideas, craftsmanship, and quality.
  • Actively listen, learn, define problems, and propose iterations within business and technical constraints.
  • Rapidly iterate on designs to test hypotheses and experiment with effective solutions.
  • Understand user needs and goals, and communicate them effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Craft compelling narratives to engage stakeholders throughout the design process.
  • Use defined patterns, guides, tools, and libraries to deliver work in service of feature design.
  • Provide detailed design specifications for engineers to implement efficiently and accurately.
  • Collaborate closely with your product partner to define user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Co-author documents outlining the problem, its impact, possible solutions, and success metrics.
  • Explain and defend the context, merits, and goals of your ideas and solutions.
  • Collaborate with research and customer experience partners, contributing to findings.
  • Participate in engineering ceremonies to support high-quality experience delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and project goals.

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Product Designer with a strong visual design portfolio
  • Proficient understanding and application of design craft
  • Expertise in Figma, including static mocks, interactive prototypes, and working with design systems
  • Experience in tackling complex problems and creating simple solutions
  • Applied understanding of human-centered design principles and the relationships between hierarchy, interaction, typography, color, and layout
  • A strategic approach to problem-solving with a systems mindset
  • Proficiency in clearly defining problems, proposing hypotheses, exploring diverse ideas, and explaining design rationale effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage team members, foster collaboration, and drive projects to completion
  • Ability to actively seek and provide constructive feedback to continually refine ideas and craft
  • Experience working alongside researchers and conducting user research
  • Experience delivering team-based design solutions within Agile SAAS or enterprise environments
  • Desire to learn and evolve your thinking across all areas of design, product, and leadership

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity and some roles may be eligible for a RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $140,400 to $194,400 | All other US States: $130,000 to $180,000.
