As the Director of Product Operations, your primary responsibility will be ensuring the seamless strategic planning and execution of product design and development from inception to launch, in close collaboration with cross functional teams. Leading a small but mighty dedicated team, you will drive efforts to boost operational efficiency that empowers Product, UX, and Eng to focus on solving problems for our customers in service of our high level product strategy. You will be a strategic leader in our extended Product, UX, and Engineering organization and shape how we collaborate across functions and with partner organizations such as Support, Customer Success, Marketing, and Sales.  You understand that the best Operations flies under the radar.

You will report to our Sr. Director, UX Research & Operations located in our Bellevue, WA  office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Build a strong foundation of collaboration and partnership with cross functional leaders and stakeholders.
  • Streamline and coordinate our product release process and tools in partnership with our Sales, Customer support, and Marketing teams.
  • Partner with Product, UX, and Engineering leaders to oversee and continuously improve our rhythms of business including weekly and quarterly business reviews, quarterly planning, and metrics reviews.
  • Be a role model for building and testing solutions in Smartsheet, pushing the boundaries of our product to solve our operational needs. 
  • Improve the way we communicate across and between product, engineering, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage and develop tools and best practices that support product design and development activities, such as work tracking, milestone tracking, and release tracking.
  • Define and govern best practices around goal-setting to help teams improve how they determine and define ambitious goals and track their outcomes with measurable results.
  • Monitor and report on key operational metrics, identifying areas for improvement and designing and implementing initiatives to address gaps and drive continuous improvement.
  • Recommend and develop training programs and materials to onboard new product team members, communicate best practices and drive process improvements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to leadership across the Product, UX and Engineering organization, supporting informed decisions and aligned direction.

 

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience in Product Operations, with at least 3 years in a people leadership role.
  • Experience being the direct owner and driver of product planning, tracking, and release processes.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent leadership and persuasion skills and the ability to lead without direct authority.
  • Deep understanding of the needs of different stakeholders in a Prod/Eng/UX organization, from executive leadership to ICs.
  • Proven track record of measurable process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Proven track record of identifying and mitigating operational risks that may impact product delivery timelines and quality. Ability to proactively address issues and bottlenecks.
  • Radical simplification mindset.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data and insights to inform strategies.
  • Proven ability to facilitate strategic prioritization and bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring plans translate into effective actions.
  • A customer-centric approach, with a focus on delivering exceptional value and experience through product offerings.
  • Track record of making difficult decisions and tradeoffs in the face of ambiguity and incomplete data.
  • Experience building operational tools in Smartsheet.

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $221,400 to $297,000 | All other US States: $205,000 to $275,000.
