Job Description

SmartRent is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Analyst to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of network and systems infrastructure within our existing and upcoming managed WiFi communities and smart home IoT deployments.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a newly created team that will be building a network operations center from the ground up. Team members will have the opportunity to help design and deploy network and element management systems, operational playbooks, define service level agreements and develop interdepartmental processes. You will report directly to our Director, Network Operations Center.

Responsibilities

  • Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
    • Monitor network performance, availability, and security using monitoring tools and systems
    • Respond to alerts and notifications promptly to investigate and resolve issues
    • Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software updates, configuration changes, and patch management
  • Incident Management:
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents, outages, and service disruptions
    • Document incident details, actions taken, and resolutions in the incident management system
    • Escalate unresolved issues to internal Engineering, Dev, QA or vendor teams as needed
  • Change Management:
    • Implement approved changes to the network infrastructure following change management processes and procedures
    • Coordinate with internal teams, stakeholders and provider NOCs to schedule and execute planned changes with minimal disruption to operations
  • Performance Optimization:
    • Analyze network performance metrics and identify areas for improvement
    • Recommend and implement optimization strategies to enhance network performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Build and maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
    • Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities for management review

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience in network engineering OR equivalent combination of relevant work experience, skills and education, including  industry-related certificates or training.
  • Experience providing technical support to customers in internet service providers environments - typically requires 1-3 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with routing, switching, VPN, firewall and cybersecurity systems - hardware and virtual.
  • OSS systems - provisioning and management of network components.
  • Network protocols - TCP/IP, SNMP, VLANs.
  • Basic familiarity with wired and wireless network transmissions methods (802.3x & 802.11x).
  • Familiarity and operational experience with operating cloud-based monitoring and management systems.
  • Understanding of TCP traffic flows, quality of service and design scalability when supporting internet service provider operations.
  • Network management system operation, such as Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds, etc.
  • Experience with Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures thoroughly.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for excellence in customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of  industry-recognized certifications such as CCNA, or CompTIA Network+ to demonstrate proficiency in networking technologies and protocols highly preferred.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time position, ideally being hybrid in our Scottsdale, AZ headquarters, but open to remote as well.
  • NOC team members will be assigned to shifts that provide 24x7x365 coverage for our customers. Applicants must have flexibility to be on-call and to work nights, weekends and holidays when needed due to the nature of 24x7x365 NOC operations.
