We are always looking for talented Freelance Product Designers to supplement our Interaction Design team, and leverage specific product expertise and  technical capabilities as project needs arise.

Interaction Design at Smart is all about simplicity - designing just one step when others need three and making every single click worth it. Interaction Designers research, concept, design, prototype and execute user interface designs that are engaging for users and fulfill the business and technology requirements of our client. Oh, and they know that when we say “users” what we really mean is “real people.”

Responsibilities:

  • Act as core team members on client projects interacting directly with clients and presenting your work ranging from fast-growing startups to some of the world’s most recognized brands in mobile, consumer electronics, healthcare and financial services
  • Create high quality project content with a focus on sketches, flows, wireframes, paper and digital prototypes with strong foundational knowledge in information architecture
  • Work alongside developers whether in-house, freelance or third parties
  • Actively and efficiently work alongside team in achieving project goals while maintaining project profitability

Naturally, You Have:

  • A degree in interaction design or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience designing software products (preferably within consultancies, agencies, or in-house)
  • Demonstrated experience with connected products or systems (not just web/mobile)
  • Specific experience working with developers
  • Knowledge of UX structure, content prioritization, and hierarchy
  • Hands-on UX skills such as user flows, app maps/architecture, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Ability to prototype ideas in current prototyping software including InVision, Framer, Principle, HTML, proto.io, etc., and stays informed of new prototyping trends
  • Familiarity with physical prototyping tools such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi is a plus
  • Knowledge of technology platforms and feasibility
  • Experience creating UX Documentation including UX annotations, style guides/tiles, patterns libraries
  • Some experience in or exposure to user research; huge plus if you’ve helped lead, prep and run research
  • An incurable curiosity relating to all things design and technology
  • Love of teamwork, brainstorming sessions and presenting in front of clients
  • Capable of empathy. Great design is based on understanding other people, how they behave, what they care about, what they want to achieve, and how they work.
